What's the biggest physical turn-off when looking for a mate? For me, it would be bitten or uncared for nails. A close second would be poor dentition. Feeling rather superficial right now, but I think I'll post this anyway! 🙂

I once had a guy message me on a dating site and he said "Hi, I like a women with a nice body. What kind of body do you have?" I responded. "Hi, I have a rockin' body, but since you had to ask we are not a match. I prefer someone a little less shallow".

What an idiot! You are gorgeous!!!

Xoxo. You're awesome, thank you.

@CaroleKay ((( hugs ))) thank you ❤ xo

People who constantly clear throat phlegm, body odor, bad breath and lack of personal hygiene.

@RobLawrence I know too many people who do that. I can’t stand the behavior. Most uncouth.

I guess the first turn off would be if the person voted for Trump. Anyone that lacks compassion or a cold heart. Someone that passes a homeless person and gives them nothing. Those would all be huge turn offs.

People spouting pseudoscience, as it shows me they really don't have a mind that interest me. I find geeky sexy. While usually education correlates with intelligence, some of the most brilliant people never went to college.

I wouldn't want to be with someone that could eat a dead animal, and not recognize how cruel that is, how bad for the environment it is, and how it prevents us from feeding the world.

Finally, this is my pet peeve, I'm a real musician, and can not stand when people play background popular music. They feel proud, and say "I know what I like." That's like someone that never learned to read, and all they do was watch cartoons. The next step up would be Dr. Seuss, and if you continue, Brave New World, Dickens, Chomsky or great minds.

Similarly, people that are not musically illiterate hear so much more when they listen to music. They can hear all the lines, the genius, the ideas, while a completely musically illiterate person likes a song based on it's lyrics, is childishly simply, and annoying.

I really don't care what a woman looks like, their age, just that they have a great heart and mind.
And, are inspired.

I think you would enjoy the Cape May jazz festivals. Wonderful musicians. My piano lessons left me with a sincere appreciation for music...especially classical. I know what you mean about the genius.

Ok, here's another.... "moldy crotch syndrome". LMAO

Qualia Level 8 June 19, 2018

Lol! I hate that!

@CaroleKay ROFLMAO you know what I'm talking about!!!!

@CaroleKay for crissakes blow dry it if ya have to, don't put the "horse" away wet! LOL

I'm dying!

@CaroleKay LOL!!!!!

@RobLawrence LOL that you think you're immune. haha

@RobLawrence Absolutely not, "moldy crotch syndrome" can affect anyone. Ask your doctor if a blow dryer is right for you. 😉

But it's kinda hard to check on yourself. I've always been very careful about closed areas being thoroughly dried after a shower.....

It's super easy to find fault in others. I'd rather focus on the positive and what's inside. Besides you and I could never be a match because I work with my hands so my nails may not be to your liking. Maybe take a look in a mirror and try to determine what it is about your appearance that could turn people off and it might be easier to find a mate.

😟😟😟

Men with long fingernails. Nasty and gross!!

oh yeah ewwwww ACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We all have our shallow little foibles, I suppose. For me it is beards. I always wonder what unappetizing deformity is being hidden by facial hair.

Deb57 Level 8 June 18, 2018

snakes & garlic! Maybe cat food smells! LOL

@RobLawrence how do you feel about your partners not shaving?

@RobLawrence I don't know, darling, I have never shaved my face. And weak chins are the worst!
I have, however, tried to keep my fingernails well groomed while still tackling gardening, washing dishes, doing laundry, and cleaning house, or even just having a life. It's a right bitch. One thing I can tell you though, I was in a two and a half year relationship with a man who was critical of every little imperfection, and I drove myself crazy trying to be his "Barbie Doll." But I was young. He certainly didn't bring enough to the relationship to make it worth my while, and yet I was expected to be tolerant of his many, many flaws. So when a man walks in with a list of petty demands the likes of manicured nails, perfect teeth, and what have you, I can only shake my head and mutter "life is too short." Good luck finding your perfect doll.

@Deb57 Wow....wtf? Where did HE say he was seeking a perfect little doll? He’s not your ex. Sheesh....

@Deb57 wow, drop some baggage...@RobLawrence only said shaving daily is tough. I find showering, washing hair and (especially) makeup every day onerous. LOL

@BlueWave His post came off as horribly shallow, as if a woman's character was not going to have any bearing in his capacity for attraction. And yes, having been cheated on after 17 years of marriage by a husband who suddenly decided to display that same level of superficiality, it definitely struck a nerve. Just wanted to point out, using a combination of indignation and sarcasm how unkind and unappealing it can be to hear that kind of pettiness from a man.

@Deb57 He was saying he doesn't like to shave every day! His OWN face. That's it. I don't blame him. I HATE shaving. I can't imagine having to do it every day.

You are reading stuff into it that is NOT even there. He is NOT your ex. You say it struck a nerve because of what YOUR ex did. Can you really not see that you went off on somebody and accused him of seeking a "perfect little doll" because he doesn't like to shave?

If you find you are in any way placing blame on anybody other than your ex for his selfish choice, devastating and life-changing choices, then you can and should remedy by whatever means necessary -- and not just double down justify your hostility toward an innocent man.

Thank you Deb, obviously, some people may not be taking in the comments or reading all the posts, and in the order that they occurred, but I am. ♥ I'm finished here. If I wanted to deal with this crap I'd still be arguing with the believers on the OKC site.

@BlueWave Although I am turned off by beards that make one appear as though they have eschewed all human contact for forty years, I have nothing against well trimmed beards, and even find many of them sexy. I was using the comment to point out how hurtful and unkind it can be to dismiss people for a minor flaw before bothering to discover who they are. I hope this helps you un-bunch your panties.

@RobLawrence Thank you for answering. Each person has their own personal taste and I didn't ask you that as an opening to put you down for having preferences. I think people should do what makes them comfortable with themselves. I also understand that people don't choose what turns them on OR off.

@Deb57 But that's not what you said or did. And, it's clear that you care not that you attacked another member for your own issues. Now you've triple-downed. Your additional insults don't help anything either.

@RobLawrence you do realize that we are all growing what our hormones gave us?

Poor hygiene

3

I have my hands in soil a lot, planting weeding and making things out of wood. To me raggedy hands are those of a worker, someone whose not afrwid to get stuck in to something. They are cleaned at the end of the day but not long tappered or polished. Im no princess.

3

My philosophy is summed up by the saying, " whatever anyone thinks about me is none of my business" My heart smiles when someone has a positive outlook, can play like a child, tells interesting stories, is kind to all creatures, laughs from the heart, has a twinkle in their eye, gives every other human the title of brother/ sister.

3

I'm generally not attracted to men with blond hair or bodies that indicate they spend a lot of time working on them. I'm also not attracted to tans because of the high rate of skin cancer. Poor hygiene is way up there, too. On the other hand, facial hair is a turn on. I've managed to convince every man who was clean-shaven when we began to grow a beard and/or mustache.

3

Smoking

Over the years ago I had many girlfriends. Some were just about sex, some were because we had similar interests. but growing older I've come to realize that I don't have the need to have a romantic partner to enjoy life. I've learned that I respect the friends of mine for what they are. In my book good people are good people. It doesn't matter their political beliefs, religious beliefs etc. So to answer your question, I don't have a so called thing that I have as a "turn off". I alway tend to value those that are helpful to others, and are kind to animals, and are honest to me and themselves.

I like the idea of focusing on appealing things and valuable features

3

No booty. I like something to hold onto.
Decent teeth, dentures are fine, and good hygiene are on that list too.

I find someone more attractive if they work with their hands. ♥

LOL
nails huh... I have to keep mine short lest 4 leggeds be stabbed in the eye accidentally. It's already happened when they weren't all that long.

Mine..., bird's nest beards. I'm ok with less than great dentition, late dh had a great smile despite not taking care of his(so lazy! would go to bed without brushing & just use mouthwash!).. tragically someone I was seeing is SO self conscious about his teeth, which I think are cute as hell, albeit crooked , never smiles in photos. 😟 It's sad because his whole face is my favorite thing about him.

Qualia Level 8 June 19, 2018

@RobLawrence The one has way more crooked than Robert Morse, but it's still cute as all get out, to me.
Dh's were nice, straight & long, he just wouldn't go to the dentist, like ever . Which is weird because we had the best health insurance ever. sigh. I let him be, he never smelled bad ever, in any way, until he was flat out dying.

2

The biggest turn off is talking bad about others. Getting mad over things that does not help getting mad. Demeaning others not being able to adapt to new places and people. Lieing is up there too! I need to be able to wrap my arms around them too!

ok physical turn off it would too big to wrap my arms around and not being able to touch my other hand.

2

Well nobody's perfect..what is acceptable to one person may be abhorrent to another..making them a non-runner.

I once dated a girl that had hair on around her nipples..it didn't seem to bother her because she was good looking and had a strong personality..
Now call me shallow..but I was young and just not ready or expecting that..so I quietly moved on. It trumps your nail and teeth issue..as I recall she had no issues there.

Some hair around the nipple is related to high testosterone production and high level of sex drive. A lot of women just pluck them;

@RobLawrence

Really? We are from Dublin originally..but we live in Trim Co.Meath...?

@RobLawrence

Yes well..I thought it might be relevant.. I didn't see it coming either..I was rather surprised.. I should point out that there wasn't a lot of hair..maybe only half a dozen..but the location was the issue..

@RobLawrence, @ladyprof70

I didn't realise that ladyprof thanks.

God invented tweezers for a reason. ?

@BlueWave. Beauty is pain suppose...?

@RobLawrence

Yes..?? TMI ⚠️?️

I thought twice about nipple hair......!

??

Strange smells

@Shelton 🙂 Was trying to message you but you're a level 8 so I don't think it allows it. Wanted to say Hi and yes "strange smells indeed."

1

I am always shocked at the variety of traits I DO find attractive when if previously asked about those traits I might have said "that would be a deal killer." The short answer is I don't have a "type", and while I doubt I would ever date a drug user or a smoker, I won't rule it out of the realm of "possible". The world is always full of surprises.

1

....and I should add i don’t get turned off easily....but i do not care for beards.

@RobLawrence sometimes beards hurt pussys

@RobLawrence Thank you for that info. I really had no idea.

@RobLawrence You complain about having to shave on a daily basis but cavalierly consign women to the nail salon. Oi! Double standard much?

@RobLawrence As a former nail tech, I have issue with everyone’s nails. I don’t care what sex they are. I don’t look at your clothes or shoes as much as your nails. It’s an indicator of how you care for yourself. I sometimes have long nails, sometimes short. Always manicured and polished. I have a certain time weekly set aside for nail care and fresh polish. At the very least they should be shaped and clean.

1

Both of those things indicate a lack of self esteem....you are on th right track.

@RobLawrence it is an amazing place to,live....lots of history, festivals, nice beaches and a relaxed way of life...except in
July and August when the tourists are thick. Did I mention fabulous restaurants? ...and I like tourists...I just don’t go into Cape May City on weekends.
