That's a great poster. Very to the point and accurate. Religious mumbling is cheap, but actions speak louder than words.

Prayer and religion cause depression and as one Christian psychologist wrote, depression is good bc it's beginning to recognize the need for change.

I have come to believe that prayer is actually harmful. Some people who do it and think they are accomplishing something then don't feel like they have to do anything that would really help. It must be comforting to believe that you are asking your big daddy for something that he has to answer to. Too often when the answer is "no" it's just thrown to the universe instead of blaming big daddy for not coming through.

Prayer is the worst wireless connection you can have...

Yup. Which is none at all.

People who believe pray for loved ones because there's nothing else they can do. They're not doctors and nurses or research chemists. Research has shown that prayer doesn't improve recovery, it even hinders it when people know they're being prayed for (patients may feel pressured to get better), but nevertheless I understand the feeling of helplessness and wanting to turn to a higher power. Sometimes, for instance when my ex-mother in law was diagnosed with cancer, I wish there was a power to turn to.

My ex and her family are all devout. I wish I could tell them I was praying. But they know I don't pray. They know that my best wishes are with them, though, and they don't doubt my love. (Yeah, even though it's my ex, I still love her as a friend and mother of my child. I'm very lucky we had a cordial divorce.)

The akin part would be people making themselves feel better about doing nothing by pretending they did something by doing nothing.
