“Prayers for my once in a lifetime dream hunt came true today,” Ms Talley, 37, wrote. “Spotted this rare black giraffe bull and stalked him for quite awhile. I knew it was the one. He was over 18 years old, 4,000 lbs and was blessed to be able to get 2,000 lbs of meat from him.”

Bloody bitch, I wish someone would hunt her down.

WOW! WHAT FUN! See a beautiful creature and KILL it! Isn't SHE just the epitome of a compassionate person?

1

posting and reposting these pics glorify that individual in their minds and others

well we could ignore it and pretend it didn't happen. It's the comments that accompany the picture that helps bring about change

@MsDemeanour it is not about ignoring. Writing about it is one thing. Photos are another. The only change I have seen made with these big game hunters is when their prey attacks them

The fact that she killed a rare, black giraffe makes me sick.

Did the meat taste different. An old animal meat would be tougher. At least not just a trophy hunter and praying really? Blessed really?

Well, at least she wasn't just hunting for sport. If you're going to kill an animal, then you damn well better make use of every single part of the carcass.

Still, hunting for sustinance is nothing to brag about. Shooting a creature half your intelligence with a gun from 50 yards away earns you no praise in my book. Kill a lion with your bare hands and teeth and we'll talk about maybe taking your picture with the corpse and posting it on Facebook.

selfish b****!

1

Any chance she's a subsistence hunter?

said she is getting half the weight in meat so sounds like she is either eating or selling it.

I am 74, also too old to breed, so why doesn't she shoot me ?

@MrLizard
She has to find me first !

on trump list next

Let me play devil's advocate here - Why are we outraged by this and not outraged over the 70 billion farm animals we kill each year to stuff our already fat faces? Why? Because it's a beautiful, exotic African creature? Her argument was that she was helping conserve giraffes by game management. This giraffe was 18-years-old, too old to breed and had already killed 3 young bull giraffes.
A strong argument is made that if you're a meat eater, but you report outrage over this, you're being nothing short of hypocritical. She didn't break the law nor is she decimating the giraffe population.
And for those was draw the moral line with sport hunting, let's not judge our very nature - hunting is in our genes. Killing other animals and eating them goes back a long way in our genetic history.

For the reasons you have put the agree that the animal needed to be shot . Her bragging about it and paying for the thrill of killing an animal is what is getting people angry

So by that logic...a few years from now when Ms Talley is too old to reproduce anyway, and her home town would likely benefit from one less mouth to feed, one more seat on the bus, a shorter queue at the grocery store, can we just make the decision for her? I'll quite happily be the one posing in the photo next to her carcass artistically draped over a coffin. My grandkids will never forget the fantastic story of the day I chose and then carefully stalked my prey.

at least she did say she got the meat it wasn't a wasted kill and it is diff I think when we raise scads of something for food as opposed to hunting something wild just for sport

@Salo I can get behind that plan there's plenty of useless racist miserable old farts where I live that would be better used as fertilizer

were is it stated the giraffe is too old to breed and that it killed some younger giraffe bulls? Then on the livestock we slaughter every year to eat if we did not eat them they would not be here!

Thanks for the added info and perspective.

I agree which is why I'm vegetarian. I like animals better than most people. If you want to eat meat, bring back cannibalism. Too many people in the world. Not enough giraffes

Wow I'm so proud of this brave young hunter, braving the wilds to protect this poor creature from a sure death by taking it out of it's misery! May the same fate befall her, so that she never has to suffer again! Life is or should be a precious thing in man or beast never to be TAKEN LIGHTLY and never in the name of SPORT! May an elephant caress her with it's toes!

1

What an utter an unmitigated act of savagery, barbarity and evil.
A noble creature brought low for the vanity of a human coward.
Shame on her, shame on anyone who eats of her 2,000 lbs of giraffe meat.
People of this type disgust and Nauseate me.

2

DISGUSTED! I am a lifelong Humanist but I would kill that excuse for a human being myself!

I used to be a humanist but to be honest I think animals are a damn sight nicer than many people. I no longer think that humans are more precious than animals just because we are top of the food chain. (frankly I'm convinced my dog is smarter and nicer than many people).

@MsDemeanour I too love animals, being a humanist and loving animals are not mutually exclusive. Some human beings are beneath contempt, we should share this planet with the animal kingdom and look after the environment as well as be kind to our fellow human beings.

I wonder if there is a greater correlation of christians with guns than atheists with guns that want to go about shooting beautiful creatures.

I would take bets on that being the case, and I never usually say anything that definite.
