I was a Trekkie before Star Wars even existed!

i voted for Star Wars strictly for the far better visual effects. Trek led the way however. It was always unfortunate to me that William Shatner was the lead actor

Star Wars is fun, but Trek for sure. Couldn't really get into the Enterprise series but have really liked all the others, especially the new movie reboot with Chris Pine, Zach Quinto, etc. The fact I have an unabashed celebrity gay crush on Chris Pine just adds another fun dimension. ?

Stargate beats both.

Not a fan of either. I haven’t been able to make it through any Star Wars movies without getting bored and walking away.

With only those two to choose from, Star Trek of course. Both are fun in their own way. Both are exciting often enough. But for content there can be only one choice. For story, Star Wars could have taken place anywhere and in any time. Star Wars also had a lot more woo than Star Trek.

SW for when I want some escapism from our miserable present.

I find this a really tough choice because I love them both for different reasons. But I think I have to go with Star Wars because of the epic feel, family themes, the mysticism... Trek has many good qualities, but its a bit unrealistic in how it portrays the family.

I would say Star Trek, only because of Next Gen.
Without Picard its all Star Wars.

When Star Wars debuted we had only William Shatner's Star Trek to compare it to. Shatner's acting style was abrasive to me and after reading the book then watching Star Wars on the big screen it was instant love. SNG is much, much better than the original to me as the Shakspearean acting method of Patrick Stewart is superior to the speak-and-pause of Shatner.
But, to each his own. Love them as only you can.

Trek

I have been a fan of both since forever, but lately I have become disillusioned with both.I couldn't get past the first episode of ST: Discovery, and turned off The Last Jedi halfway through.

For my Sci Fi buzz, I now look to Doctor Who, The Expanse, and Dark Matter (hoping someone will pick this up again)

I like both and you should have that as a voting option.

Trek....The second set of Star Wars Movies (episodes 1, 2, and 3) were terrible movies.

I like both but overall I love the trek. Picard ftw. And DS9 from the third to sixth seasons was badass.

Not fair to not have a "both" option.
