This afternoon at lunch, I was sitting in the dining room of the insti....er retirement home (check bio) and determined that I was living among a collection of imbaciles. I figured out of a hundred people, average age of eighty five, I would say about 90% believe in God and the bible. I am ashamed of my people of my generation that with all the technology available, they won't get their head out their asses and do some logical thinking. Oh! Jeebus H. Crist, I just figured out why, the optimum words being logical thinking!! Most of them are beyond that. I have a few friends who think like me so I guess that's some glimmer of hope. I don't hide the fact that I am an atheist, I'm pretty outspoken and don't take any shit. I don't go looking for trouble but start talking about the bible or telling me that they will pray for me, it will get me going. I will try getting into a debate with them. So far, no takers. What on gob's fucked up earth can I say? Sorry for the rambling, I just smoked a little weed, or maybe a lot. Just saying. Glad I live in Washington, one of the more progressive states.

Past age 70 you are staring your mortality in the face and if you haven't accepted it you're apt to regress around it. I'm sure that peels off some people who were in their younger life at least areligious, if not atheist on a considered basis. I would also expect each successive generation of retirees to be less religious, but it's a trailing-edge phenomenon.

People in their 80s today came of age 60 years ago, or the late 1950s. If we consider people who came of age in the late 1960s to be the first generation that openly "questioned authority", maybe in another dozen years we'll see a marked decrease in traditional religious ideation amongst the 80 year olds. As such it just means you were born a decade or two too early.

Yeah, didn't have any say in the matter. I'm a 30 year old living in an 80year old body. I plan on living to a hundred and fifty anyhow so I still have a lot of trouble to stir up. Lol. If you read my bio, the sales rep has retired, and the so called "event planner" is out. It's the Peter Principal in effect. If a person can't speak up and question authority and help bring about change, don't bitch about the status quo!. Just saying.
