So I’ve decided to go back to school and earn my bachelors degree in psychology at the ripe old age of 45. Are there any other non-traditional students in the House?

I took my degree in Religious Studies when I was 45 and have just started a degree in Sociology and Criminology at 60. You will love it if you love study. And as pixiedust says you will give a lot to the students, in the way of life experience. The tutors will love you because they know you are there to study unlike other younger students who are there under duress

Congratulations! I took my second degree when I was in my thirties. You'll bring a lot of experience and insight to your classes.

Thank you! I never thought about it that way but you’re absolutely right!

@Vader6948 And now, no to be less popular than you are right now 🙂🙂...I confess to you all next September I will re-take my lessons in Italian.
The Retired Teachers' Learning Center (NYC) offers all kinds of classes...from languages to jewelry making...and e/class only costs U$S 10,00.

I got my Masters degree when I was 52 years old.

Congratulations! That’s my ultimate goal. Earn my masters degree and teach.

Great decision. Congratsssssssss

Thanks!

@Vader6948 Will you attend a three credits per subject college or one that offers 4 credits for electives? Does your program requires 3 or 6 credits in a language? If so, you can take a CLEP test and save money and time.

@DUCHESSA They do offer options to test out of certain subjects like foreign languages, English and math. Some classes are weighted heavier (4 credits) but most are three. I’m considering trying to test out of Spanish but it’s been a long time since I’ve taken any classes lol

@Vader6948 Good. I will help you with Spanish. I taught Spanish 26 years.

@Francoise Dear, I guess you didn't read my last post to the OP....I have a Masters (Teaching of Spanish / Secondary level) and 36 credit above said Masters (NYC pays more if you have credits "after Masters" ) I am not planning to get another degree; three are enough...but thanks for the info.

@Francoise i JUST DID. 🙂🙂🙂

About four years ago a good friend at 45 quit being a manager (masters in BA) and went back to school to be an RN. She's been an RN for two years now and works more then a dozen hours every day. In this "RIGHT TO WORK STATE" she is having a hard time paying back her student loans.

That’s a shame. Right to work just brings wages down for everyone.

@Vader6948 You are correct. She will likely have to leave the state - - to make roughly twice as much.

I started college in my late thirties, best choice I ever made.
