Mostly non fiction. As an autodidact, there isn't enough time in life to learn all there is to know. My kids got me the T-Shirt, " so many books, so little time."

Mostly non-fiction, regarding religion and philosophy, unless there is a piece of literature that helps us understand social tendencies or changes we are seeing today.

For years my favorite author was Steven King. Then I discovered Ann Rule true crime paperbacks. She passed away and I haven't found a new true crime author I like so I'll probably go back to King.

Fiction all the way. Escapism it probably is, but I love it....especially a good thriller! Lee Child’s Jack Reacher is my favourite of the moment.

I progressed the same way. The only history I learned was from historical fiction like James Mitchener's Texas or Gary Jenning's Aztec. I think it was because there was meat on the bones of the story. These days I find there is more meat on the bones of philosophical books. My father used to call stories that were easy to digest - pap. I still like to read a pap story every now and then for a break from the heavy stuff. It's usually historical fiction about Shakespeare's England.

Reality depreses me can only read fiction books unless it's a scientific book
