On dating sites, everyone says they like long walks on the beach. When I am at the beach, no one is walking down the beach, they are all sitting.

What gives?

[Is it actually a code only I don't know, about a type of sex or drug? ??]

I can't take long walks on the beach. The water is over my head after only 5 minutes or so.

I'd love to walk on the beach or woods or anywhere! I hate the fact that it is a go to phrase so often. Would I like to? Yea! But I can't. I have MS, every step is a struggle. can we sit and talk?

I suspect it's equivalent to loving to walk in the rain. Really?? Maybe I'm afraid I'd rust, but I don't find that romantic, either. I'm afraid that a lot of people watch too many romantic comedies and assume that anything that happens in those make them sound like a good romance partner. Maybe there would be more matches if everyone was just honest about themselves. Like that's ever going to happen.

I prefer short walks to the fridge

In a word, Buttplugs, they are supposed to feel better when you are sitting on soft sand, at least that's what I am told..

Maybe the long walk types go to the special long walk portion of the beach!

That is very funny! Believe me I've been here all my life. There are people taking long walks on the beach. I like to do it myself as often as possible.

The term comes from a time period that long walks, holding hands and such on the long walk and in-depth conversation were valued. Hopefully the in-depth conversation is still valued. Nothing to do with sex or drugs.

Its code for, "this is what I think would very romantic, but I don't really do it, but I would like to."

Maybe in the older age range. I occassionally see millenials posting about liking long walks on the beach. They tend to focus on their gym rat or athletic lifestyles instead.

Dating sites are like Facebook
I believe that people make up as much uplifting things about their self as possible, the exception with Facebook is they seem to enjoy making up as much negative things about others. Guessing they believe that the lower others appear the higher they are placing themselves.
As in walks on the beach sounds much more civilized than, we all passed out on the beach after drinking way to many alcoholic beverages.
And when we realized that Bob was married to an octopus, and spent a fortune on wedding rings.

Lot's of people also like clarify that they like nights in AND nights out. Almost everyone seems be into climbing too. My local climbing centre is just not that busy!

It's actually so friggin' hard to walk along a beach. Your feet sink into the sand, you have to side-step shells and trash...

Walk closer to the water, the surface tension of the water and sand are almost like soft. concrete.

Great idea in a movie. But apparently they never actually did it. I’d prefer a nice float down the river. I think it really means they want a fantasy romance. I know I’ll come up short and don’t even try.

I thought long walks on the beach was the same equivalent to Netflix and chill on tinder. 🙂

Sorry but it is and we can't tell you.

I don't know why so many people would give the same answer. Perhaps long walks on the beach are symbolic of a good relationship. I know I'm tired of taking all my walks alone.

Honestly I live in the Pacific Northwest and I'm surrounded by water and I hate walking on the beach it's cold it's wet and in my opinion saltwater stinks so I will never say that I would prefer to go do something that is actually entertaining

Yur just spoiled 🙂

@Varn yep you know what they say familiarity breeds contempt LOL

@JustLynnie you know what they say Different Strokes for different folks

Maybe they had all finished their long walks..and were discussing 2nd base..?

I noticed that too. It seems to be a line used by those with limited imagination , or an idea borrowed from movies !
I also noticed that many of those authors appeared as if they don't take long walks anywhere ...

In the distant past 🙂
a walk on the beach was a walk 'down the garden path'.
