Following AmiSue's lead, what is a song that makes you cry?
This one does it to me every time

Too many to think of! At various times in my life, different tunes had the effect on me of causing water flow from the eyes! This song is good. Been there!

Or anything by Eva Cassidy, or any song from Dylan’s Blood on the Tracks

Goose bumps. Have you heard the Pentatonix version?

My favorite version of that song is Leonard Cohen.

@patchoullijulie not til now that’s really cool! And yeah @tristannuvo that’s the original, I like some of the verses in that one better but no ones ever sung it quite like Jeff. When I play it I play it in his style but with some of the original Leonard Cohen verses Jeff left out.

You say I took the name in vain,
Well I don’t even know the name
But if I did well really, what’s it to ya?
There’s a blaze of light in every word
It doesnt matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah

I did my best; it wasn’t much
I couldn’t feel so I tried to touch
I’ve told the truth I didn’t come to fool ya
And even though it all went wrong
I’ll stand before the lord of song
with nothing on my tongue but hallelujah

@TristanNuvo Yes I love his version also. That voice mmmmm

@TristanNuvo yes. It's beautiful poetry sung in that rough raspy voice of his. My favorite song in the world.

@TristanNuvo That is the only version in my book

Sad songs don't make my tear up.
what does however is when I hears something so powerful and beautiful.
this is one I've always loved,Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater (Quando corpus morietur). it's beautiful, yet has a haunting sorrow to it as well.
And he wrote this at 25 yo. he died the next year of Tuberculosis.
Here is one of my favorites for that.

Beautiful.

@Hitchens I'm glad. Nathaniel Rateliff is one of my favorite musicians. I'm happy to introduce people to his work.

I have more than one. Here's another: Bridge Over Troubled Water, by Simon & Garfunkle. Their voices soar with emotion.

That is a GREAT song by a great artist. I was in a bar in Austin in the late 80's when she came in and sat down beside me. We talked for awhile. It was a nice time.

There was a time when I shed many a tear listening to that song.

Not only the song, but the singer. The amazing Norm Lewis:

A beautiful song methinks. I get choked up at the end. (This is a fairly terrible video though, maybe listen but don't watch.)

Drive All Night by Bruce Springsteen. I have never heard another song that’s sung with such heart, soul and raw emotion. If you’re not a Springsteen fan give this song a try.

And almost ANY song from 63 year old Lucinda Williams makes me cry! She has told us about her life in song!
