Have you ever been blind-sided by another's religion?

I was dating a lady for a few years when out of nowhere she accuses me of never taking her to church. We had never gone or talked about it in the years we dated and I was quite surprised. We had both been raised Catholic but even her family never mentioned going. Just one odd aspect of a long ago relationship.

It never came up the whole time?

Nope. And not the only woman to do similar.

@Deanervin that is rather strange. If it is an important part of the life you should mention it?

@GreatNani well, I do now. ?

@Deanervin LOL! I am sure you do! Make sure you ask a lot probing questions. And keep asking. That is just so strange that something so important would not come up for years.

@GreatNani I think it has to do with fear, mostly. But yeah, if it was important enough why not bring it up? I wouldn't bring it up because not something I'm wanting.

My ex-wife never mentioned religion before marriage, and asked me to go to church a few times when we were married, nothing major, but when we broke up she told everyone that I had been wildly suppressing her heartfelt religious convictions throughout our marriage. The day after she left I got in my car and she had turned the radio to the Moody Bible Institute station and set the volume all the way up. Apparently she had just expected me to believe and if I didn't, that was me abusing her.

I dealt with similar from ex wife too, though I kind of new she leaned that way. She went full Christian after we broke up.

I wouldn't even consider someone who was even remotely religious, unless it was something innocuous, like someone sympathetic with Buddhist teachings.

I would find out before accepting a date, or even replying on a dating site. At the first sign of religion, I would dump him.

I've become this way. Dated a few who claimed it wasn't a big deal but when I saw picture of jeebus or a cross I just lose interest.

It is something I usually bring up on a first date because I’ve been vested in relationships, like 6 months, where it wasn’t brought up because we had agreed not to talk about it, then, when they find out I’m a non-believer, they start finding fault with me wherever they can. If it is something that is a deal breaker, they need to state it up front.

It was a long time ago but I recall we had talked about it at one time or another, hence blind-sided.
