We cannot bring this about no matter how much we would wish to. You must try to make yourself happy by being true to yourself and not aiming for impossible goals. Live your life to your own standards and try to let others do the same. Most of my friends believe in god , but it doesnt stop me being friends with them. I believe religion is a curse, but I don’t believe I can do much to influence their belief in god. Just be happy that you no longer are burdened by the nonsense of having to follow a set of ridiculous tenets from a book written by man. Just consider how lucky you are to be free to think for yourself and be happy.

It is a worthy goal to strive for, but it is unlikely it will happen in our lifetimes. I think a goal that is more likely to produce recognizable results in a lifetime would be to build and reinforce the wall that separates church and state., not just in the U.S., but everywhere around the world.

Not really. You can choose happiness in spite of religion, just as some people are good in spite of religion, etc. There will always be something you'd rather not be true about your existence. Eliminate religion as an influence and your 2nd biggest irritant just becomes your new biggest irritant. You have to base happiness (or contentment, really) on things you have some reasonable control over.

At any rate, a step in the right direction .
