E=MC^2 , Energy = Mass x Speed of light ^2.
From memory increasing energy accelerate mass actually increases that mass requiring more energy so the amount of energy i think in this instance would be infinite.

that's more or less it hence no body with a mass can exceed the speed of light

That's just Newton's third law of motion and has nothing to do with the speed of light
