"I'm mad at the NFL," my Republican friend Kameon said tonight. "Why?" I asked.

"The stopped playing the National Anthem."

"That's one way to deal with the controversy," I said mildly.

She and I previously argued about NFL players kneeling during the National Anthem.

"They are disrespecting the flag!" Kameon insisted.

"They are protesting racial injustice and police brutality against black and minority people," I countered. "This is their First Amendment right."

When I got home, I looked it up. ESPN decided to stop playing the National Anthem during televised football games.

And Ford Motor Company announced their support for football players kneeling to protest racial injustice and police brutality. Excellent!
