I have raved about Jonathon Haidt's book "A Righteous Mind" many times on this site. In my opinion, there is no better understanding of the left and right divide available. Here is Dr. Haidt discussing safe places and his upcoming book "The Coddling of American Minds".

Dr Haidt is awesome I agree. Haven't read his book yet but have heard him on youtube. Once you understand this you can ease up on the division and work on the cooperation. We need both for a functioning society.

Righteous Mind is a classic...especially the "we see faces in clouds but don't see clouds in faces" Too bad it reads like a sociology textbook...but I recommend it to all I can too
