If you had to recommend someone watch 5 TV series, what would you pick? (here are mine)
1 Call the Midwife
2. Walking Dead
3 Vikings
4.Farscape
5. Bill Maher
Lots more. I love TV, but I'll stop at 5.
Breaking Bad
Six Feet Under
West Wing
Seinfeld
Game of Thrones
Game of thrones
Breaking bad
Dexter
Family guy
Married with children
Confession time: I have downloaded seven seasons of GoT, and yet to start the series. That's right, I'm a GoT virgin ?
I need to add Frasier, The Golden Girls, Bob's Burgers, The Guild, Stranger Things, Life, The Finder, Lie To Me, A Series Of Unfortunate Events, Young Sheldon, etc
I could go on and on =)
Bob's Burgers is my fav late-night, can't-sleep show to watch.
Battlestar Galactica (2004)
This one is a nice discussion of every aspect and grey areas of society
Seinfeld
Humor in its natural shape
South park
The first seasons are random nonsense, but the new ones are worderful social critics double down episode is the perfect description of the Trump effect for example.
I love Seinfeld.
(CURRENTLY RUNNING)
5. Supernatural
4. The Walking Dead
3. Game of Thrones
2. Westworld
(SERIES THAT HAVE ENDED)
5. Stargate SG-1 / Atlantis
4. Breaking Bad
3. Psych
2. Farscape
And sgu? Where is sgu?
JasonNash, I really enjoyed SG-1, and I'm ambivalent about Atlantis. There were things to like, of course, but I always felt like exploration of Atlantis itself could have been a bigger part of the plot — but maybe that would have fractured the storyline too much. Farscape was great, too — lots of tough questions about philosophy and ethical dilemmas, plenty of action, trippy by times, suspenseful, great character development.
I would have to know the person and be aware of their tastes before I could make such a recommendation.
How do you feel with TWD losing its main characters?
@Nichole765 Hate it!!!
@marksam8484 seems like Daryl may be the only one left. ?
These are not order of preference, just order of when they came to mind
Love the IT Crowd
@Nichole765 Me too
Obviously I didn't mean the american version of the IT crowd. sheesh I forgot they had copied that as well.
In no particular order
@Jorgumander gravity falls > Rick and Morty.
Yeah I just said that.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer (always my first choice)
Lost
Being Human (US version)
Shameless (US version)
Dexter
And you're a Spurs fan??
I'm smitten ?
Dexter
Shameless
How to get away with murder
Breaking Bad
Sons of anarchy
Game of Thrones.
Breaking Bad.
The Sinner.
True Detective.
Vikings.
I assume I am recommending to someone with my exact taste....
Deep cut bonus
Freaks and Geeks (brilliant show, ahead of its time. Only one season, but I often wonder what happened to Lindsay after following the dead that summer)
Yes.. Picard is highly recommended as a role model.
I'm sticking to fiction here, so no competition shows, so-called reality programs, no science or how-to shows, etc.
Older shows
Cartoons
Recent shows
Shameless
Lost Girl
Seinfeld
30 Rock
WKRP in Cincinnati
Hah!! Name drop time.. I child minded Anna (Lost Girl) when she was a preteen. It was really odd to watch her as an adult acting.. I wasn't a fan of the show.. found the writing. hmmm.. lacking.. to put it politely. But enjoyed tuning in once in a while to watch Ms. Silk strut her stuff ( and yes Silk is her real name not a stage nom de plume). I haven't seen her in person for many years but she was a real gem of a youngster. I can only imagine she is as giving a person now as she was then
Haven't watched "new" tv series for a while just kind of lost interest with other things to do,... watched a few episodes of Riverdale out of curiosity as to what they would do with the characters.. checked out Black Mirror for the story lines dealing with how Tech is affecting society.
All things considered I think these 5 have some value beyond pure entertainment
X-Files ( first 4 seasons), The Office, MASH, Reboot (animated), and Schitt's Creek ( Canadian)
Twin Peaks, Seinfeld, Night Court, Fernwood Tonight, Barney Miller
