Just found out that the parents of one of my best friends evacuated safely from Myrtle Beach, SC. They're with family in Columbus, GA. They JUST moved from CT to SC a month ago. Their house is 5 minutes from the beach. No telling what they're going to find when they get back.

Odds are mold & mildew at the least. Maybe worse depending on the flooding in the area.

Storms defy reason, they can destroy one house and leave the one next door untouched. Hope when they get back they were one of the lucky ones.

I hope everyone is staying safe.

i got cousins hanging in ATL. they live kinda coastal i think. they live where the eye came ashore. scary.

Glad they got out before it got bad. Hope they have homes to return to!!!

@KKGator its iffy at best....but storms are weird in what they will take, damage, or leave alone....but the surge...?

@hankster I know. There's no telling what they're all going to find when they go back. It's probably going to be a while before they're allowed back into the area.

@hankster, @KKGator The surge & the amount of rain that is expected!

@phxbillcee Plus, there are a number of rivers in that area (five, I think), which are expected to crest until at least Tuesday or Wednesday.
This storm is moving slow AF, and the water has no where to go.

@KKGator The subsequent flooding can be far worse than the actual storm damage!

@phxbillcee That's the main concern now.
