Regarding the Hidden God Problem.

It would seem that God, assuming a God of course, went to a lot of time and trouble, effort and energy, to establish His existence to a rather tiny band of quasi-illiterate goat / sheep herders in a rather restricted geographical region of the world thousands of years ago. Alas, there's no evidence that survives all of His revelations regarding His existence. So, if God wants to obtain the faith of the multitudes in this more modern, global, and scientific age, He really needs to update His public relations and advertise His brand in such a way that there is no doubt as to His existence. Surely it is not logical to expect the multitudes thousands of years after-the-fact to have the same True Faith and Belief systems in place as did those semi-illiterate goat and sheep herders, based on evidence available to them then but which has evaporated in the fullness of time and is no longer available. So, if God exists, then yes, I'd expect Him to provide an update as to what He's been up to for the last 3000+ years and thus instantly convert over seven billion people into accepting Him as the One True God. It shouldn't be difficult. That God remains hidden speaks volumes IMHO.

of course this presumes not only the existence of a god, but the existence of a god who gives a shit. i cannot speak for the latter without first accepting the former, which i do not do.

@johnprytz lots of folks abandon projects about which they were once enthusiastic. about clergy's assertions, until they share god's email and/or phone number, their assertions have no backing. i don't understand why you're asking about something easier to accept. which is easier to accept: we live forever or we die? does the answer mean we won't die? there is no god. therefore he can't hide. it doesn't matter whether that's easy or difficult to accept.

g

@johnprytz this is true, but i was not talking about humans abandoning religion. i was talking about this theoretical god abandoning humans. that is what i meant by project. the question was about whether god once gave a shit but no longer does.

g

@johnprytz well, it's more like trying to figure out whether the tooth fairy is blonde or brunette.

g

@johnprytz my example is offensive to other racial groups? which ones are "other" and why would that be offensive anyway? is pc still a thing? was it ever? i think pc was made up by people who didn't understand why it's not okay to use nasty words to hurt other people.

@johnprytz that was megyn kelly. i have to admit i am not terribly concerned about her feelings. i am not terribly concerned with any fox host's feelings. they certainly are not very concerned with facts!

g

@johnprytz for what it's worth, hannity is begging trump not to fire rosenstein (yet anyway). wouldn't it be a bitch if this was the moment donnie decided to prove he isn't being managed by fox?
