Doomsday clock has been moved to two minutes to mignight.
Always wondered if it will get to midnight before the nukes hit or if a later generation will find the clock 30 seconds too?

It's been this close before in my life time . I'm sure it will move back as soon as a certain celebrity gets voted out . As long as we survive the next three years we should be fine for a while

I just saw that in our news here, I would like if they took into account other factors, sure nuclear is sudden and quick, but some other things, though slower, may get to a point of no return and our demise becomes slow and lingering but inevitable.

I fear we may have already passed the point of no return and won't know it until we're dead... Like boiling frogs...

@stinkeye_a Haven't heard that term for a while, so apt. Couldn't agree more. Among other things I am an ecologist and do a lot of work with threatened species. I have so many sites where the species in question has not been seen in over a decade, no traces, no scats, no remnants nothing.

@icolan Good to know!

With Trump provoking North Korea a nuclear war could break out. And with fallout polluting China the war could escalate to a Doomsday scenario quickly. I think they were right in moving the clock up. I sure hope Trump does not kill us all!

Trump must be incredibly proud that it has moved closer to midnight twice during his first year in office, with the first time largely due to him. I can imagine the shit eating grin on his face upon hearing the good news. I wonder if any other presidents have had such a dubious distinction.

@TheMiddleWay "The administration of US President Donald Trump was repeatedly singled out by the group over policies they view as harmful. These include the decision last year to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord, and the administration's disparagement of the Iran nuclear deal."

@TheMiddleWay Trump gets a lot of the credit. And blaming North Korea for Trump's insane tweets is like blaming immigrants for his racism and blaming women for his misogyny.

I don't think POSOTUS will be grinning. I think he'll do as he always has... blame others.

The "Doomsdays clock" has never been right. How many times has it been the end of the world only to wake up to another typical day? What is the saying "a wrong clock is right twice a day" sure whatever.....

I think it's nonsense. The reason they cited was conflict between the US and North Korea. North Korea doesn't even have the means to wipe out South Korea.
