Acceptable use of blackface? It doesn't seem like punching down but we live in a world of zero tolerance. It actually fits the theme of the song it seems where wanting to be a black horn player (Satchmo?) is being represented. Love the dance choreography. So much fun!

Blackface is one of many things that were used in such a way as to become pretty unacceptable. I would say art should be immune knowing that art is likely to offend someone anyway.

Saw this with my African-American girlfriend at the time. She was so tickled by this. I roared. "Never go full retard" (also completely un-PC).
@WilliamCharles Oh no doubt. The litmus test for society moving forward is the ability to laugh at the misdeeds of the past. Sadly in the case of racism it is still very relevant.
we live in a world of way too much tolerance of intolerance, and of racism. no, this doesn't seem appropriate. why is the most imitable part of the black horn player his blackness?

That's why I asked is all. I like the vid but know that blackface is considered problematic in any context, even with Ted and Whoopi.
@WilliamCharles there's a reason for it. in a perfect world it would just be a nod to an ugly part of history. this world not being perfect, it nods a little too agreeably.
