Interesting conversation at work today. Three of my coworkers were discussing Wayne Dyer and his philospohy's based on religion. I chimed in and said he talked about god but not Jesus and was more spiritual than religious. Ya know, the whole "master of your universe" and all other BS.

One coworker stated he "healed" himself through positive thinking when his leg would go numb. It took him 3 weeks to become healed. He's blind so he couldn't see the amusement on my face. I tried not to laugh and kept egging him on. Was that bad?

Why laugh, when it's true? Just the placebo affect teaches us that we have ultimate control over our bodies.

Besides, physics indicates that we are participating in creating our own universes/reality.

“Consciousness is fundamental, and matter is derived from consciousness." – Max Planck, theoretical physicist who originated quantum theory, 1918 Nobel Prize in Physics

Quote:

“A fundamental conclusion of the new physics also acknowledges that the observer creates the reality. As observers, we are personally involved with the creation of our own reality. Physicists are being forced to admit that the universe is a “mental” construction.

Pioneering physicist Sir James Jeans wrote: “The stream of knowledge is heading toward a non-mechanical reality; the universe begins to look more like a great thought than like a great machine. Mind no longer appears to be an accidental intruder into the realm of matter, we ought rather hail it as the creator and governor of the realm of matter.

Get over it, and accept the inarguable conclusion. The universe is immaterial-mental and spiritual.” – R.C. Henry, Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Johns Hopkins University , “The Mental Universe” ; Nature

As a massage therapist for 16 years who actually helps people through neuromuscular therapy, saying you healed yourself by thinking about it is just a load of crap. He believes he has powers but in actuality his body “healed” itself after 3 weeks. I use to believe in the power of the universe but that’s like praying, it’s all make believe.

I would've done the same thing and, in so doing, confirmed the loudness of my smirk.

Dyer died of leukemia in 2015. I guess positive just stopped working for him.

I thouht he died of a heart attack

@helionoftroy Correct. Although he had been diagnosed with Leukemia, it was a heart attack that took his life. Thanks
