Trump created this devisive atmosphere. It's a real shame people can't just talk and agree to disagree and still be neighbors. Unfortunately, I get caught up in the banter too. It's all so emotional.

I didn't lose" them..I dumped them myself.

I distanced myself, defriending/deleting/blocking anyone, friend or relative, who declared themselves Trump supporters or who posted racist or overtly Christian memes.

I have no use for friends or relatives who think taking children away from parents and locking them in cages, removing legal rights for LGBTQ people and minorities, or sexually assaulting women, is a good idea.

Although, I have spoken with some who voted for Trump who are now sorry they did. There is so much artificial info out there that people are confused about what really goes on. They think they can believe on certain media than find out later that that media either has an agenda or is fake news that someone created. That's why more college educated people voted democraTIC. GOP even call us Democrats to creat a negative view. There is so much BS going on and most folks don't have the time or wear with all or want to investigate the truth. They just go along with their friends or family so their not ostricised.

@puppylov I questioned/confronted each relative and friend before defriending them, explaining how what they were saying was offensive/racist/homophobic, etc., and each one was defiant, usually attacking and insulting me as well.

But if any of them were to apologize and to renounce the GOP agenda, I'd probably eventually speak to them again. But the relatives who were also Trumpanzees had been acting like jerks for decades, and I was relieved to have an excuse not to contact them again.

@birdingnut I've had similar experience too.

I don't talk to most aunts/uncles, most cousins under 40 are all liberals who think 45 is an ass hat. Don't have friends, where I live that would be difficult. I now avoid talking to a lot of people at work unless I absolutely have to.

I quit counting.... the only one that bothers me is an uncle who, until tRump, had been my favorite uncle. The 'friends', basically my thoughts, don't let the door hit them in the arse on the way out.
As someone else stated, I have also gained quite a few like minded folks.

Before the election, I have a niece who sent me a letter about how wonderful Breitbart and Infowars were and how she would stay up till the wee hours reading their stuff. I asked her if she really believed that there was a sulfur odor coming from Hillary and Obama. We haven't corresponded since. I've lost quite a few friends also.

Definitely friends, obviously I didn’t know who they really were. We are completely morally incompatible.

Yes

Can't talk about politics or anything with certain trumpster exes, relatives or friends. Occasionally facebook friends criticize my anti-Trump posts.
