Hey Everyone! First time posting here...

I recently applied for a very important (to me) volunteer opportunity, which is required for my higher education path in the healthcare field. However, this position requires a statement of faith, which disqualifies me because I do not identify as a Christian. I am particurly puzzled by this requirement, especially because this automatically eliminates many potential candidates who would undoubtedly be valuable assets to their cause. How would you all react to this? (Fyi, to my knowledge, this is strictly a healthcare related position, and does not involve any type of religious work).

Thanks in advance.

This is just terrible. And worrisome for us queers and blacks and and women and disabled and the such. If they can make you affirm you are of faith they can make you afirm you are not of these groups too.

I would show it to your graduate program advisor or director. Take it to the dean, if necessary. The academic institution should not require volunteer work with that organization. Also, research other places you can get equivalent experience so you can present that alternative along with your complaint.

You should report them..that is illegal!

By the way, this website has a bit of a learning curve, so here's some info, in case you need it.

For members who are open to dating, certain thumbnails and profiles have a heart symbol on them with a percentage. This identifies which members are open to dating, and the percent shows approximately how compatible others are with them.

You gain website points by answering all the profile questions and writing a bio, which also earns website points, and helps other members get to know you.

Commenting on posts and writing your own posts earns more points. At level two you can private message people, and at level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.

If you want to date, the website uses profile algorithms to find member matches, so the more details one includes, the better the match.

Many people prefer to see a written profile talking about interests, hobbies, and backgrounds that can be quickly perused to find others with similar interests..

In case you didn't know yet, to find members near you, click on the "Browse" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Click on the "Discuss" button, then "Nearby" to find members near you also.
Or click on the "About" button at the top left of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.
Points are now being given to level 3+ members who chat. You can see chat rooms on the group main page.

?

I am not sure I would be willing to do that!

Couldn’t do it, and frankly it creeps me out, healthcare requiring religion? Guessing they pray for them, super helpful.?

@Seems_legit most of our community hospitals are St this or St that. Some have religious statues or art. It's beautiful.
I just choose to go to different places. If I'm that sick, I don't need that anxiety as well

There isn't as non-religious organisation where you can volunteer? Could you really give your effort to an organisation that demanded this?
