Do you love where you live? Why?

I'm giving some serious thought to leaving my home Chicago in the next few years.

I don't have the kind of scratch I'd need to live where I really want to.
So, I'm content with Florgia.
I've lived in much worse places.

Florgia! New one on me. I lived in St. Simon's Island/Brunswick 1997-2000--does that count? 1 hr north of Jax

@stinkeye_a We live close to the Florida/Georgia border, near Tallahassee. The weather is identical. My nephew came up with Florgia.

@KKGator that kid is going places!

@stinkeye_a Thanks, he's pretty awesome, and he and his wife are raising awesome kids. As far as "going places", I think if he had his druthers, he'd go surfing. Or fishing. LOL

Montana: yes
Billings: yes
My neighborhood/street: 50/50 love/hate: it's pastures, horses, pheasants, trees, and low densiry vesus meth dealers and meth-driven traffic adjacent, federal warrants being served, and a sex offender next door. I'd kind of like to move but I love this street so I'd kind of rather the meth and sex offender just disappear instead.

You don't like where you live unless you live in Canada. Move to Canada.

You're welcome.

I'm in the South of VA.. Near the ocean, that create some anxiety every time there is a hurricane coming this way. So I would move near the mountains if I could..o

I live in an area call Alamogordo N.M...Which by no standards is considered the cradle of civilization...However it does come with some upsides...Almost no traffic...Beautiful views and cheap housing. I don't love it...But if you're ready for life to slow down...Then this is the place for you.

Sounds perfect.

@patchoullijulie I was really lucky when I first got here because I lived in a cabin up in the mountains....Nothing special but a 900 square foot cottage on the side of a mountain..Surrounded by summer homes so I had a little mountain side retreat all by myself. It snowed often and elk and dear came.by to visit often.

@josh23452 It sounds wonderful. I could easily appreciate the sound of nature over the sounds of leaf blowers, military aircraft, car alarms and loud music (my current area of residence). I have travelled through New Mexico on several occasions over the years and everywhere I went seemed to have a really nice vibe to it.

@patchoullijulie have you ever gone through Cloudcroft? If not I would suggest it.

I live in Southern California and I love it, It's left leaning, Cannabis is legal and everywhere. Fresh organic food abounds. You have the beach, the mountains, you have culture and diversity. There's always lots to do, but there's traffic everywhere, you have to time your drives, or use navigation to get around it, and it's very expensive to live here. Oh, and it's hot most of the year, lol!

Iowa is mostly corn fields, so it gets a bit boring! I like my college town though! Perfect for relaxing and focusing on studies.
@pashaonenine What's wrong with Chicago? I might move to the suburbs for a job.

Nothing "wrong" with it. Well, apart from corruption and waste and the high cost of living and crime in some areas. I grew up in a small town, and I came here to be involved in the exciting arts scene here, but now I'm getting older and feeling less in love with the city.

Colorado is terrible. Don't come here. Tell your friends!
🙂

I just visited Colorado for the first time weather in July was beautiful, minus the flash flood and hail the first day we were there.

Shhhhh!

I took a hiking trip in Colorado and loved every minute of it. Wait a minute...you're trying to keep the rest of us out!

Tampa FL is a city like any other, but hotter. It's got some great beaches and some dreadful traffic, maybe not as much, but a poorly constructed road system creates havoc.

If you appreciate warm weather and beaches it's a great option.

Traffic is absolutely dreadful!

@Alimacbean yeah it is, I'm a transplant from New England where the road system makes sense (mostly outside Boston area) and traffic is at least "understandable" I guess I would say. Down here it's like the wild west on the roads which are not big enough for the volume every single day.

I like where I live, because everything is 7 to 10 minutes away. Most of the people are friendly and non judgmental. I would like to buy a bigger house in my town in the future. I suggest a smaller city in Illinois, if you decide to move. It will be more peaceful.

I enjoy living in Boise. Public transportation could be better. It is experiencing massive growth right now with the growing pains associated with it. Still nice. Four seasons. Good community. Over-priced housing. That issue seems to exist most places.

I am not crazy about where I live, but I live in NYC and there's plenty to love about this place. I've been here for 20 years, so I've "done" it...but what I mainly wanted to suggest, if you haven't looked into, is if you have a decent apartment/house, maybe look into a swap with someone. I have known a couple of people who have done it because they have to (residency, project, etc.) and it's a good way to check out a town without committing to it completely. Just a thought. Good luck.

Idaho is a beautiful state. Lots of great parts. A bit on the right side of the spectrum for many but I have always loved it here.

1

I live in Omaha, NE. I don't love it here, very hot summers/cold winters, conservatives in control, rich boy Repub governor, farm state, limited stuff to do. However, Sam and Austin are here, within 20 minutes of my house. Sam and Austin being my grandchildren. All my adult kids are within 30 minutes, and my sister/BFF is about 90 minutes away. I don't love it here, but what I love is here.

1

Considering I moved here only because I had nowhere else to go, yes, I love Skagway, Alaska. That being said, there are a lot of things that could change here. The cult of ignorance for one, better education at the public school for another, and they REALLY need to figure something out about a recycling program.

0

No, I don't love where I live. I moved here with the intention of it being temporary -- 29 years ago, I planned to stay until my daughter finished high school. But in my profession it's really common to get trapped -- they can hire in people with new degrees and newer skills for less money. Now that I'm retired I'll see where my daughter ends up and then I'll decide whether to follow her or not.

I live in Southern California and love just about everything here except the traffic. It's bad but currently tolerable (barely) for now. Cannabis is legal and within a few hours drive you have the beach (excellent surfing) and Pacific Ocean, the Serra Nevada mountain range and many other mountains, huge deserts and all manner of world class entertainment. Temperatures are mild most of the year with a month or two of hot in the summers but low humidity and most nights (even when it's hot) are comfortable and the only snow is in the mountains. The economy is very good and plenty of jobs but housing (buying and renting) is very expensive. Just read that an income of about $80k/year in urban areas here buys roughly what about $50k/year buys in Wisconsin.

Yes I do. It is said that the way to tell when the seasons change is by the color of the leaves. Here in south Florida the license plates change color. ?

It's beautiful and peaceful in East Tennessee but I don't love it here. I've been here too long. For someone looking for a change and lots of peace and quiet - it would be a nice place to come to

1

Yes I love it here, Coos Bay, Oregon! Iam retired so I don't know the employment picture. I think Oregon in s doing fjne.

I have been there my dad bought a place on North Ten Mile lake was there till he died step mom sold it and bought a small place in town. She had it in too much dedyt when she died so got repossed

You need to provide more information. Climate preference? Political beliefs? Mountains ocean. City urban rural? etc. Otherwise, throw a dart.

Cultural resources, cost of living, climate, traffic...

0

No but is better than some places. Its too hot in the summer but other places get hotter.

I live in SW Alabama...do I love it...no...do I like it yes...about 80k people here...not a lot of culture...cost of living is great...plenty of work...
On a separate note, I lived in NM for 6 years...just south of Albuquerque in Belen...sorry I ever moved...Albuquerque and Santa Fe are LOADED with culture with no limit to what you'll find. Great skiing and good roads...traffic is great compared to Chicago.. If you have never been there...highly recommend you check it out...you would be pleasently surprised...NAMASTE

I have a love/hate relationship with where I live. The violent crime rates are extremely high. There are no good jobs nearby. Housing is extremely expensive.

But, there aren't many places in the world like it. I'm an hour from the beach, an hour from the snow, and an hour from both high and low deserts. This location is ideal for the life I lead.

I love living in the pacific northwest,
