I know that it's easy to point our fingers at individual aberrations when it comes to sexual violence. But there is a deeply cultural (and religious and economic) foundation for such behavioral manifestations in our society.

I suspect that, at its foundation, we will find Christianity (and specifically Puritanism).

One of the more important preventive measures is to give women more political and economic power.

By doing so, we will in the long run reduce sexual violence by men against women.

yeah? i am sick of NOT hearing about them when they're out there being violent and predatory. sick of hearing about it? how about doing something about it? here are some things that normal, nonviolent, nonpredatory men can do about it:

1. don't give your support, actively or tacitly, to violent, predatory men.
2. raise your sons not to be violent, predatory men. this means raising them to respect women the same way they respect men. this can be done by example and fortified by speech.
3. vote for people who don't mock, but do support, women who have been the victims of violent, predatory men.
4. be careful not to be a violent, predatory man.
5. don't post stuff about how tired you are of hearing about violent, predatory men.

Some of us are sick and tired of personally dealing with them.

So what. We should stop our campaign to eradicate boorish and immoral male behavior because you're sick of hearing about it. Why don't you do something to help eradicate, then you wouldn't have to hear about it anymore.

Clarify, please. You're sick because they exist? Or you wish people would shut up about them. I suspect it's the latter.
