I think that I am under attack! It could be spiritual warfare. Several weeks ago my son and his wife announced they were taking my grandsons and becoming catholic?! They are attending something called a "mess" and are signed up for "classes". Then this past weekend as I was trying to sleep in and prepare for a day of holy football watching I was asked to go with them to be a "Good example to the kids". What happened? I'm just your quiet, friendly atheist. I don't preach or make snide comments to people that have imaginary friends. Secondly, CATHOLIC. Of all the possible options catholic?! How about taoist, methodist etc but catholic. Any ideas how to combat this evil that has entered my life?

My late partner had that problem with her daughter (thankfully there was no husband nor kids). They fought about this for several years. Finally she gave in and said she would go with her but she was free to say what she wanted and she did.

Do as I do..totally ignore people any time they bring up religion and act like you suddenly remember things you need to do elsewhere.
Leave.
Go home.

If they ask you to join them on some religious organized pedophile-ring Catholic church activity, say, "That's you, not me," then change the subject, or walk away.

Any time they talk about religion, mumble "Um-hum, that's nice" look bored and distracted, and walk off.

It only took three visits to train my parents.

I think I would give my grand children Bibles and offer to answer any questions they might have about it.
