Even though I'm a hardcore, don't humor any religion, atheist, Halloween is still my favorite holiday. I love going to "haunted" houses and telling ghost stories until everybody is scared silly. In fact, I love paranormal stories year round. The one novel I've written that's made it to the publisher's desk starred a snarky succubus, etc. Currently reading Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse vampire series to get in the mood for next week. I can't help myself. Just goofy like that.

Out of all the holidays or "Holy Days" I find Halloween to have the least stress associated with it. I think that's why so many folks do enjoy it! It doesn't mean pressure or societal or monetary expectations. And a lot of it is about play! Good stuff.

Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays! It's much more fun than any of the Christian holidays. I recently read a facebook post from a lady who was trying to get people to stop celebrating Halloween because it's an anti-christian holiday. I think that she should lighten up a bit. The Nightmare Before Christmas has always been one of my favorite movies.

Halloween is great, as is horror writing just like sci fi it takes out of our thoughts while inspiring us to think.

I'm the same Quixotic! I've never ever connected with the 'Disney' style of woo Christianity promotes (or anything like remotely Abrahamic) but I do loooooooove anything pre-Christian perhaps Pagan or just 'spooky' because if I'm out in the woods on my own or generally in a dark windswept place it's far more 'natural' to subconsciously imagine spirits or whatever 'out there' even though my conscious mind doesn't believe anything actually is - but I like to over ride it sometimes! I love a good ghost story too if it can capture the subtile spookiness which most Hollywood films can't or don't. The Blare Witch Project was good & I really like some British stuff. One of the very best is The Owl Service if you know it?

I love Halloween. I love all the pumpkin flavored things and all the candy. I love psychological thriller movies, but I can’t do scary ones. When I get scared, it pisses me off lol. I haven’t read the Sookie Stackhouse novels but True Blood was so good. I just haven’t watched the last season. I just didn’t want it to end lol. Another favorite is Anne Rice. I just love her writing. Interview with the Vampire is one of my favorite movies. I’m excited to see that it’s being made into a television show. And yes, I’d rather have another Halloween than Valentine’s Day! I HATE IT! Even when I wasn’t single I hated it. It’s so stupid. There shouldn’t be one day to celebrate love for your loved ones.

Far be it, for me to condemn any reason to have a got time, playing dress up can be fun as can scaring people in jest.

Halloween being my favorite as well. The other ones are too religious based for me. Hate xmas and everything it stands for. I boycott the stores starting next month. Easter, the same thing.. so tired of religious based holidays. We need an Atheist holiday!

I hate Christmas too. I work in retail, so the day after Halloween they start playing the Christmas music. UGH I HATE IT!!!!! If it was instrumental it would be so much more tolerable. I think I’d be able to tolerate Christmas if I didn’t work in retail, but I pretty much have to deal with Christmas crap for three months, so it really makes me loathe it, not including the religious stuff!!! Easter isn’t as bad gladly, but it’s still annoying.

I think it is great for anyone to fantasize, for kids to play make believe, or to enjoy any genre with fantasy characters. A healthy mind knows that they are for fun and not reality.
