The "gab" website is not really a free speech issue (Imo).. hate speech does not need to be protected.
I do think people should be allowed to sue the owners and operators of the publication rather then shutting it down.
@TheMiddleWay ok.. your post said.. "views" .. to me that's not the problem .. it's when a site allows and its members seem to be calling for the killing or hurting of a group..
Could you find comments like there here? Yes, but they would be rare I would think and if it got out of hand I believe it would be stopped..
The problem with gab.. and people checked this.. was not moderating its members at all and neither were the members.. the site seemed to encourage the hate speech.

Even talking about A-theism or "there is no god", can bring some wrath of others on people. If the conservative, evangelicals should gain complete power, they would certainly pass blasphemy laws.

I think free speech shoudl be allowed, however, peopel shoudl be held responsible for what they say, or providing a forum for hate. Actions have sonsequences, and peopel need to be responsible and held accountable for their actions... or in the case of providign forums, sometimes for NOT takign action.
Craig's List provided free personals... until they were presented with evidence that peopel were usign the free ads for purposes of human trafficking. Then they did a responsible thing and shut the personals section down, even though it greatly impacted the traffic on their website.
If GAB is aware that their site is being used to organize hate groups that perpetrates violent acts and does nothing,they are also, at least in part. sharing in responsibility and should be liable criminally and civilly..

@PalacinkyPDX It was voluntary. When the Craig's List peopel were shown tht their personals section ws beign used for human trafficking, they voluntarily took down that section. This may have been in part due to the fact that once they were aware of it they might be legally liable, but it is my understanding that they did not wait very long after findign out to just take it down. If your are right about a skeleton crew, that is probably in part why they chose that route. They simply could not monitor well enough to pre4vent the misuse of their site.
Yes there are limits to free speech. You can't yell fire in a theater falsely and you shouldn't preach hate and harm to others. Gab should be shut down.
