Convention in San Francisco. A couple of us agnostic members attended the last FFRF convention and I thought I would post my impressions. The site, city and hotel, were fabulous. The line-up of speakers was also great. Salman Rushdie was actually funny. There were almost 1,000 in attendance and a 12 year old girl spoke about a book she wrote and her involvement with FFRF [sbgpublishing.com] . Everybody was very impressed and she got a standing ovation. The actor John de Lancie (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0209496/) was awarded the “Clarence Darrow Award” and his presentation also earned him a standing ovation. After lunch we were entertained by a California singing group: [laweekly.com] (open the video “Every Sperm is Sacred&rdquo😉. Cecile Richards had a mock interview with Annie Laurie Gaylor about her early childhood (she was the daughter of Ann Richards former Governor of Texas) as the former president of Planned Parenthood (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cecile_Richards). She was awarded a new honor called the “forward” award. A model was made of the famous stature in Madison WI honoring progressive women (https://isthmus.com/news/cover-story/forward-sculpture-daniel-french-capitol-statue/). It was a wonderful, fun convention and I encourage everyone to try and attend one. One wonderful attribute of this convention is that everybody is on the same page in this area. People walk up to complete strangers and start conversations. I, an introvert, do so without a second thought. It is so enlightening. The next one will be in Madison next Sept. and the one following that will be in San Antonia.
