If you are a fan of Trump AND you are an Atheist... I'm surprised someone hasn't made you walk the plank!

That's just mean

@Cardinal93 Perhaps it is rude. IMO sending bombs, shooting people, and running them down with a car because they are liberal is mean. Bigotry is mean. Sending troups to meet a caravan of impoverished refugees is mean. Conservatives lie and cheat, that's mean. For sake of argument, let's suppose you are an angel. Keeping company with conservatives that are murderers, bigots, and cheaters, you bring criticism on yourself, even though an angel does not deserve it.

However, the worst conservative stance is on Climate Change. All the GOP are climate deniers, which is a sure way to make Earth uninhabitable by people and is already causing a mass extinction. IMO all politicians who are climate deniers should be tried for crimes against humanity. According the the UN, climate change is killing many people every year. Conservatives are in power in the US, and they are using that power to destroy humanity and the ecosystem.

If you were aware of these things, I'd expect you would not post as you did, and RiverRick was rather kind to you considering liberals like Rick know about the atrocities done by conservatives. If you think you are alone because you are conservative, then I suggest liberals will not become conservative, and you will remain alone unless you find another conservative. If you love a liberal, then you have much to learn about us. We aren't monolithic and we aren't simpletons. There are many educated people here, including PhDs.

Bitching about being lonely is futile. Everyone is lonely more often than they like. Trying to join a group who are concerned that a conservative may carry a weapon and start shooting makes acceptance unlikely. My conservative family abused me, from the time I was a toddler until I left home. I'm sorry, I cannot say good luck.

Ok sir you made a lot of assumptions based on little evidence and created a straw man that cannot be sorted by fact and logic. If I may paint a few out I hope you will be enlightened. The refugee group is an unwelcome group of people that do not support American ideas and want to exist as someone already breaking the law in America in the American dime. I'm not a climate denier but I remain skeptic on the mechanism add of which it is b happening and it's actual effect on life in an ecosystem. And I'm sorry your conservative family hurt you. But by that logic all atheists are murders and want to create a system of government that kills mad amounts of people (Stalin, Mao, Chey to name a few)
My gay you sound like an emotional theist right now with your ferver and lack of logic. It almost feels like a troll man

@Cardinal93, @EdEarl I stand by my comment if viewed as intended. First of all... You can be a conservative but dislike Trump. You can have brains and be a conservative... However, you cannot have brains and be a Trump supporter (in my view)...

Atheists are usually a little more intelligent than the average crowd. That doesn't mean their personalities are worth a shit though... People are still people. Some good and some bad. But it is a filter, as I see it, to weed out at least 50% of the people that just bug the shit out of me. That's just me...

EdEarl... I don't view myself as a liberal. With all the guns and ammo I have most liberals won't even come back to my place! I am liberal in some areas, socially perhaps, and conservative in others, fiscally, for example.

Now.. My original post was said a little tongue and cheek. You'll notice I didn't use a graphic example like being stoned to death or shot or stabbed. It was more the lighthearted walking of the plank. This is something that exists only in your imagination as I will wager nobody here has seen someone actually walk a plank to their death. It's a tremendous buzzkill when I have to explain a joke!

@Cardinal93 I'm checking my statement for assumptions. I was trying to present ideas based on facts. However, I'm not a wordsmyth and often must revise statements.

  1. Conservatives lie and cheat, that's mean.
That implies "All conservatives," which was not my intent. I should have said, "Conservatives such as Trump, his fervent supporters, and the GOP lie and cheat, that is mean.

I'm a bit dyslexic and don't always catch my errors. Please point out the other assumptions.

I accept criticism of my ideas, but personal attacks, such as, "My gay you sound like an emotional theist right now with your ferver and lack of logic. It almost feels like a troll man" are rude and lead to flame wars. Lets keep the discussion about ideas instead of calling each other names.

@RiverRick I owned a .22 rifle when I was 12 and enjoyed using it. Though, my pacifist viewpoint today means no guns for me. At one time I was conservative-libertarian economically; however, we change the world and the current economic system is poisoning the Earth and killing en-masse. It is time for a big change in the economic system. But, it is extremely unlikely it will change by force of will. I believe multinational corporations will automate massively to cut costs by eliminating workers; it is already happening. If you look for it, you can find the evidence, perhaps you know already. On the other hand, the corporations like to distract people's attention to other things, including "An Invasion of Foreigners from the South."

@Cardinal93 The biggest estimate of people in the caravan is 14,000 and the smallest 4000, according to Politifact. They want to immigrate to a promise land, the US, which has 300,000,000+ people. CNN says state department records show, "The admissions count for the 2018 fiscal year, which ended on September 30, was less than half the number of refugees admitted in FY 2017 (53,716) and about one-quarter of the number of people admitted in FY 2016 (84,994)." Even if there were 14,000 in the caravan, allowing them in would not increase 2018 immigration to 2017 levels. Moreover, there were 1,839,000 jobs created, with low unemployment, in Trumps first year in office; that 14,000 is trivial in comparison to available jobs. The fear Trump has generated about this caravan exceeds reason, IMO. I haven't heard of them doing heinous things as they cross Mexico, have they? This whole thing is comedy of the absurd, except Trump is sending an army to the border so people may die.

According to USA Today, "Automation could kill 73 million U.S. jobs by 2030." Job losses aren't from immigrants. Trump exaggerates.

@EdEarl I promise you I did not mean to say my gay I intended to say my guy. I feel terrible for that typo I'm sorry
But the idea that we should let any amount of people into it country illegally with them having no intention of assimilating properly and most likely living off the tax payers dime is abhorrent. It's the idea behind it that is what I can't support

@Cardinal93 Have a big illegal immigrant population in Bradley, IL do you? Illegals I worry about less than the tens or hundreds of thousands of 'Muricans who scam Welfare and Social Security disability. I'd much rather have a hard working illegal living beside me than a lazy scam artist! (Not all who are on Welfare or SSI are lazy or scam artists but a huge percentage are!)

@Cardinal93 I know nothing of their intentions, do you, really know what any one of them intends? If you do, how do you know? The nominal procedure is to meet them at the border, have them fill out papers, and process the paperwork. None of that has been done. Trump merely decided he needed a spectacle and started bad mouthing them, I think before they crossed into Mexico. I don't think any foreigner should be in the US illegally. But, the way people here are carrying on about a bunch of poor people who want to come to the US is misplaced unless there is some evidence that they have bad intentions. The way people carry on, you'd expect them all to be carrying machine guns and rocket launchers; if that were the case, I'd say send troops to the border. But, they are coming with families with children. They don't want trouble.

I didn't take offense at your misspelling; though it was confusing. It was the entirety of the statement that accused me of things that aren't true. Of course, you don't know me. And I challenged your ideas, which you took personally that means you didn't understand what I was saying.

You said, "Ok sir you made a lot of assumptions based on little evidence and created a straw man that cannot be sorted by fact and logic."

You haven't quoted any assumptions I made. I assure you, I can provide evidence for my statements, and if I cannot, I wll apologize. Also, I'd like you to explain why you think I made a straw man argument; that's actually another personal assault, which leads to futile flame wars.

@RiverRick actually we do have a lot of illegals here. More and more every month not gonna lie

@EdEarl this is exhausting and cannot be discussed properly on a forum. If interested in a voice call where we can talk let me know

@Cardinal93 Exactly the opposite for me. Here I can Google and demonstrate the voracity of my arguments. A phone call that's impossible; we would just be bitching at each other.

As a conservative straight atheist you will experience challenges. Per your bio you’re seeking trans people which is abhorrent to most conservatives and are actively persecuted and have had their rights actively stripped by the current administration. How serious could you actually be in wanting to find a partner?

I'm actually a huge fan of a conservative trans woman in YouTube and she has many fans like me

Reading this post and comments, what we seem to have here is a guy who claims to be a conservative and an atheist, and is sort of looking for sympathy. (Or a girlfriend). Really? In this world now I have no sympathy for conservatives, or conservatives masquerading as libertarians, even if they call themselves atheist. Every atheist I admire, respect, or look up to are progressive or at least progressive-left leaning, and not one is conservative. The world has changed, and I have no time for conservatism any more.

1

You are far from being alone, at least in regards to on this site anyway. Once you reach level 4 you are more than welcome to join- "Conservative Atheists"
There is also a gun rights advocacy group if you are interested as well- "Pro Gun Rights"

Take care in the meantime fellow conservative, cheers.

Awesome thanks man

So, you've worked through your thinking on religion, but maybe political-economic thinking is still a work in progress. The key questions to me are: what is it about progressive ideas that alienates me, and is conservatism really consistent with atheist values and seek a non-religious world? I know my answers.

Actually I'm not, never have. I'm a guy who believes in the structures and values that have evolved into a free world for everyone can enjoy. Butt think it might be easier for you to straw man, over simplify, and some my positions in all things.
If you wanna really know my positions then you can ask me but this was a toxic and undercover comment. Aton avult

@Cardinal93 well, one can draw reasonable conclusions about the meaning of conservative. If that offends you then take the time to write a full post explaining what your question is, and defining yourself in a way that is clear and unambiguous. If you write a loaded, vague post then you can hardly complain if people comment based on a reasonable interpretation of it.

You're basically saying you're an atheist who wants to preserve white privlidge. Our current economic and political system was built on slavery and imperialism. To want to conserve that is to conserve your privilege that is based on such continuing injustice.

Wow....talk about projecting. And BTW...every time you pay taxes or vote, you are also conserving the system.

3

Honestly, I expect my daughters to ‘bring home’ an atheist … but not a conservative 🙂

Varn Level 8 Nov 8, 2018

I would love to be a part of that.

5

There's a group for you here, bo worries. One of the more popular ones at that.

I might lean conservative on some issues, but I can't identify with many of the people and especially not the party, which has been hijacked by evangelicals pushing the bible into the Constitution.

No thanks

Wow...only one person who sees that conservative ideas doesn't mean you think women should be raped or Mexican children need to be put in concentration camps. Too many people on here are assuming what the OP meant by conservative, and equating that with being a Trump hate-mongering clone. I think it would be more constructive if people didn't assume to know you just by a one sentence statement.

@Cardinal93 - I just started a group called ServiceMembersHangout for military, vets, LEO, fire, and first responders (essentially anyone who has served their community/country). It's a new group, really small, but you are more than welcome to join.

[agnostic.com]

My overall politics lean heavily to the right, but I'm registered Independent though, so I understand where you are coming from. Quite a few of us from the conservative group on here have Libertarian views, which I'm fine with.

@jondspen If you are interested you are more than welcome to join as you already are a member of the pro gun rights group I host

@SpikeTalon I will join as soon as I'm level 4

2

You are not alone but "conservative" is a subset minority in the minority of "atheist"

1

Well, I'm more libertarian, leaning liberal on social issues, conservative on government/freedoms and such. You're not alone socially, but romantically...sorry, can't and won't help you there my platonic friend! 🙂

While leaning heavily to the right, I too tend to align with Libertarian views. Quite a few members of the conservative group on here also have Libertarian leanings.

2

With good reason.

Go back to school.

I actually just graduated a paramedic program and sit for my test next month

I have no idea what you're comment is suppose to mean. Should he go back to school b/c you think he needs to be taught to not be conservative? Does he need to go back to school b/c there he is more likely to find like minded individuals? Are you saying the movie "Back To School" is awesome? BTW...I like Rodney also

@jondspen
Well he could find an "echo chamber" if he wanted to, sure. But there is no substitute for a well rounded education. He might come out more knowledgeable. overall widening his choices, level up as it were. But not if he's determined to go just to confirm his bias.
Look , I'm mostly liberal, but not "granola" liberal. There IS a difference.

The fruitcake side of liberalism to me is PETA/HSUS/Veganism. I'm non of that.

@Qualia What the hell does being conservative have to do with him living in an echo chamber? Plenty of leftist liberals on here live in an echo chamber. Social or political POV has nothing to do with one's willingness to have a conversation or examine new ideas. And being presented with new ideas doesn't mean you have to accept everyone that comes along. I think you're projecting a bit of your personal experiences about his POVs on his comment about feeling alone. You realize you can be an atheist and not believe every left wing ideology that is spouted (which you obviously do since you call PETA/HSUS/Vegans fruitcakes). Not trying to attack you, just saying IMO you're comments are coming off very judgmental.

@jondspen He is a white male at the top of the "food chain" mate wise.
He is on here lamenting that he feels like a unicorn. I was merely suggesting he attempt to expand his horizons since he seems not to be able to find what he's looking for.

Sorry not sorry I've little empathy for those who confess to anything "conservative" in our current political climate. So yeah, I'm judgemental. And?

That is my take on his problem, shoot me.

@Qualia Wow...so much wrong in that post...I don't know where to start.

@jondspen Ok then bye. Go hump someone else's leg.

@Cardinal93 So you're a paramedic that's great. That doesn't mean you've gone through an entire curriculum. There are people in my family who work in cardiology and they don't know what turbinado sugar is much less an iota of government history. Great at working knowledge of the heart & vascular system, make great $, still clueless.

@Qualia I don't know what you mean then by going back to school then. Because I'm pretty will versed in science history and a little bit of the arts
