I personally never met a racist atheist. It always seems to be based on a made up belief system. Your thoughts?

Just go over to conservative atheists, you'll find a few. Ive run across them. And they are every bit as virilent as a christian racist. Not to say all conservative atheists are, just a few

@clarkems Wait, he said not all of them, but a few are. And isn't it okay to judge a racist for being racist, quickly or otherwise? And whether one is conservative or not, a racist is a racist, right? I'm pretty sure Nick was simply saying that he has experienced and/or witnessed racists in the Conservative Atheist Group, and apparently in enough numbers to warrant mention, and with a qualifier that specifically says that it is not all of them and even indicated that it was only a few who frequent that group. So what exactly are you taking issue with? Is his comment factually inaccurate?

@Kafir Thank you Kafir for your clarification and defense. You are exactly right. By all means probably most of the mrmbers on Conservative atheists are not racist, but there are definitely members who are. I have personally encountered them on posts here.
I make no appologies for calling out racists.

I haven’t met any either, but I’m sure the exist.

What are you referring to when you say "It"?

Yep can attest, theyre around. Its extra disappointing, like mysoginist atheists and alt right atheists. Check out the 4-5 conservative groups we have if youre morbidly curious about who to block.

They are pretty funny to lurk on, though.

@DoctoralZombie that they are. I like to weed em out en masse by making sweepingly anarchic communist statements and flush em out in droves though, so most of em with any sense have blocked me. Im sure Im famous in the conservative groups for being one of the biggest assholes on the site haha. I occasionally get a straggler that didnt get the memo n have some fun though 😉

@Wurlitzer it's kinda like trophy hunting, but with intellect rather than rifles

@clarkems oh no I do. I only troll the ones who are quick to display mysogyny racism etc. Never assume. 😉 Im sure its just coincidence that so few of them fail to disappoint.

@clarkems Oh no we have people who have proven they are those things.

It's not just one group but they do tend to belong in a subset of a certain group (so far anyway).

They did a mass blocking effort of anyone who was left leaning such as myself so I don't see them anymore. Fascinating right? I was never rude to any of them.

@clarkems yeah no Ive never heard seen or done the calling of those names to someone who is fiscally conservative unless theyre making explicitly ignorant statements along those lines and showing their prejudices without question.

Depends on what you consider a racist. Are you only talking about the overt folks? Or are you including the many “not racist” folks who laugh at racist jokes and lock their car doors when passing thru a black or Latino neighborhood? That type of racism is sadly common in predominantly white culture no matter what the spiritual or political belief system.

Atheists are just as entitled to be arseholes as religious loons.
However since people who have become atheists through understanding and a demand for evidence are less likely to accept idiotic prejudice with out evidence to.
Being reasonable gets to be a habit after a while.

Oh yes, there’s a few on this site unquestionably. Lack of faith doesn’t inherently make you a good person.

@AmiSue Absolutely ^^^This^^^

They exist. Usually guys in maga hats spouting nonsense about how white men are the most discriminated against group in the US. They are here and they are ridiculous.

@PeaceByGreenJobs So happy you called them pseudoatheist

I don't understand how anyone could be an Athiest and vote for the GOP. It is basically a Christian sharia machine.

@Al-Bundy_59 I would tend to agree with you

Oh the first incel I met here - before I knew they existed. That was eye opening.

And frankly I don't remember if they were religious or not. It was the attitude I remembered. And that's actually very much what I evaluate people on.

You know, there are bad apples in any bunch, but on the whole, I think we agnostics and atheists are more enlightened than people of faith. Maybe that is a function of our typically higher level of education!

@KissedbySun you are entitled to your opinion. If you feel you are not enlightened, then maybe you're not. Personally, at this point in my life, I feel very enlightened. If the rest of the world were so enlightened, there would be no war or machines of war, no poverty, no rape....NO TRUMP in the White House! Ya feel me?

2

I am guessing there are a few but fewer then the religious population because:

1: A common observation by the theists I help de-convert back into atheism is that they no longer fear people not like them as the church teaches them to fear others (colors and ideals)

2: There is an inverse relationship between intelligence and racism and there is a positive relationship between intelligence and lack of religion.

2

I haven’t but I’m sure they exist.

This would make sense because religion has often been used to justify subjugation of others. But, not all religious people are racist. Also, I'm sure there exist Atheist racists.

I have..
