This was on Facebook over 200 comments. So so many explain why they were right and everybody else was wrong. So..... What's your answer? LOL

In arithmetic the convention is to multiply or divide before adding or subtracting so the correct answer is 15

?????

1

10+10+10=30
5+5+10=20
4+4+5=13

(10/2)+(5+4+10)x(4/2) = 5+19x2 = 5+38 = 43

I don't think this pictogram is particularly valid though, so I'd also accept unsolvable.

  1. Explanation:
Each shoe in the pair is 5 (5and5=10, 10+10+10=30)
    Each boy is 5 (5+5+10=20)
Each newspaper cone in the pair is 2 (2and2=4, 4+4+5=13)
    So, 5+(5x2)=15

Oh crap, I'm still wrong. I missed the last boy holding the cones and wearing the shoes. But do I add them together first as one item or multiply by the single cone first?... Okay, my brain hurts...

@bleurowz No, You are correct

Aw shit.

I see what I did.

shit.

I get 10.75

Hello how are you doing today??

Think twice has this.

So do others that I knew would...we are a consistent bunch of observational nerds...ha ha ha

I get 10

and I'm wrong. Change my answer to 48

5

15...er...nope, 43

half a shoe = 5
little dude=5
half a cone thing=2

order of operations

5+5x2....multiply first, so 5x2=10...add the 5 = 15

but...did anyone notice that the little dude had on a pair of pink sneakers and is carrying two coney things? That would make him a 19...19x2=38, +5= 43....ha ha ha

@clarkems Details, darling...details...they are important...

good catch.
I wonder if the little items are worth 10% or so.

@clarkems Most of them are not true math tests at all...the math is the easiest thing about it...many here can do math easily (we are a smart group of people)...you are correct...it is seeing outside the box...paying attention to details and nuances...to me, that is exceptional

@Agamic Yes, the little dude in the last formula is 19...we agree on that...

@thinktwice Doh! I did not see the dude had the sneakers and the cones in the last row....

@LizBeth I missed it first round as well...I have learned to slow down a bit and take it all in first, then respond...maybe that is the lesson to be learned from this...think twice! ha ha aha hahha

@thinktwice Think thrice! That's what it took me. 😛

So what is the answer......?
Put me out if my misery please ?!

5+5×2=20

2

Tricky. 5+ (5+5+5+2+2) x 2= 43

I second that

As I recall, you also zoned in on the last one he posted....we would have fun doing puzzles together... 🙂

Hello how are you doing today??

1 was wrong with 12 - I neglected the ‘order of operations’ .... I thought the last row were all added together but the last row is 5 + (5 x 2) = 15

Oh god that is so fucked up!!!!!!

OK, using algebraic notation it’s 43.
