AFFILIATE PROGRAM: THIS IS A VERY DISTURBING DEVELOPMENT.
What is the point of this if not to profit in some way?
What is the value of growing the database of users and posts, other than to sell the data when it reaches a reasonable size?

Thought this place was really going to be different than FB.

And now it appears we have all been duped.

Wow, paranoid much? Do you realize facial recognition software can see you from Space Stations?

So what's wrong with this site monetizing its membership? Are they supposed to operate at a loss just for our benefit? Something has to pay for this site and the FB model works. FB has been monetizing me for years and I get next to nothing from being on that site. I rarely post and have little interest in being there. I post here constantly. I'm making friends and enjoy the time I spend here. In fact, I should probably spend less time here but that goes to show how much I enjoy the place.

Monetize me, agnostic.com Unlike FB, you've earned it.

Not at all.

Let's say that I have a website for my business and I don't mind putting a link to this page on it.

I would be rewarded with payment based on number of people who joined from finding Agnostic.com through my website.

Why should Facebook get all the advertising revenue instead of us who have personal business websites, blogs, etc.?

The majority of people are here now because of Facebook Ads. Think about how much has been paid to Mr. Zuck's company...and ask yourself, why should he get all the money? Doesn't he have enough? LOL

Geesh there are a lot of paranoid people on this site.

What is the purpose of accelerating membership? Who is paying of it? Why? These are legitimate questions given what you wrote.

@Jacar
All have been answered.
Why not grow it? It's a great community and dating site.
Who is paying? A private foundation. A non-profit. A philanthropist who believes that Agnostics/Atheists/Humanists needed a way to connect.

Accept that some people actually do good things just for the sake of doing good things.

If you had the money, wouldn't you want to create a site like this?
Sometimes the only agenda is to help people find each other for support and...possibly...love.

Crazy, right?
