I googled atheist meetings and found this website. It seems like a great place to discuss common interests. I am in a great need of social anything! I know this post is probably screaming DESPERATE but I just want to connect with someone.

Welcome Casey. You'll find a lot of very nice people on this site. I joined back in July after my husband past away in June, and all I was getting from those around me were "it's god's plan", "he's in a better place now", etc. etc. Since I am a non believer I to searched for a place to find other's who thought like I did. I was so glad to find this site and believe me, these folks are some of the best people you will converse with. Jump in, browse and post your thoughts.
