Found this today in the grocery store. Why is it so expensive? Did Jesus make it?

The price to support religion is too high for me

I think there used to be a bakery in Portland, Or. That was named Ezekiel's ran by the brother hood of man, great bakery.

Those cereals have been passed through Jesus' colon and are bursting with divine nutrients and holy vitamins. That doesn't come cheap.

My atheist wife loves the bread this brand makes. I think it's terrible but that's not just because Jesus made it.

Yeah the cereals aren't bad and probably carry the usual bogus premium cost mostly on the basis that they are "natural" or "organic", though coming from a Christian source they are probably neither. But you're right about the bread -- it's dry and hideously uninspiring.

The Pope gets a cut from every box sold.

Uh..... I actually like this cereal, and the bread, too. I started eating it over 20 years ago, following the Eat Right for Your Type diet plan. I don't follow the diet anymore, but I recently started buying the cereal and bread again. I like the flavor; it has a nice nutty taste. If you have a Sprouts in your area, you might find that it's cheaper there....if you're interested.

So, I looked up EZ 4:9 (NIV) and a few verses beyond...

9 “Take wheat and barley, beans and lentils, millet and spelt; put them in a storage jar and use them to make bread for yourself. You are to eat it during the 390 days you lie on your side. 10 Weigh out twenty shekels[a] of food to eat each day and eat it at set times. 11 Also measure out a sixth of a hin[b] of water and drink it at set times. 12 Eat the food as you would a loaf of barley bread; bake it in the sight of the people, using human excrement for fuel.” 13 The Lord said, “In this way the people of Israel will eat defiled food among the nations where I will drive them.”

So I'm guessing the ingredients are wheat, barley, beans, lentils, millet, and whatever the fuck "spelt" is. My real quandary here is; do they bake this stuff in a human-excrement-fueled oven?

@John_Tyrrell It's all clear now. I would be lying down for 390 days if I ate that crap too.

spelt is a grain. i've only seen it added to breads as little seedy bits.

@Paul4747 I'd reckon you'd be continuously making copious 'offerings' to the porcelain ' god' in your bathroom for 390 days rather merely laying on your side.....LOL.

@Triphid I don't need any help in that department, thanks anyway...

@Paul4747 Nope, me neither.

I would check the expiration date on that stuff before buying it.

@maturin1919 Ezekiel expired a long time ago.

@maturin1919 Anything religious is like a rancid fart in a sealed room, it just keeps lingering around.
