Anyone else have a problem with the President "procedural" accident in releasing SEAL names and family information, especially while deployed?
I thought, at first, about the visit, good, that's what Presidents do. Then this.

Perhaps we're too ready to jump Trump. In this case it's true, because he didn't screw up on this business about the OPSEC thing. Oh, and credit where it is due: He did go to visit troops in a combat zone. We fussed at him because he hadn't. Now he has, so don't bitch. Was the trip for the troops? Hell no. It was for him and he politicized the stink out of it, but he did go. Did he screw up several other things because of the trip? Yep. I wouldn't expect anything less. This guy can screw up a wet dream. But he went. So, did somebody fuck up when it came to the OPSEC compromise? You bet.

"Somebody fucked up.

But it wasn't Trump this time.

SEALs are supposed to be invisible, that's their job. But, instead of maintaining proper OPSEC, keeping a low profile, SEALs grabbed all their gear and posed for selfies and press pictures with Trump in front of the cameras. That's on them, on their NCO, on their officers, on their commanders.

It's out in the open now and the military will have to deal with it. Either send these guys home or live with the increased risk and possible mission fail.

They should have known better.

They DO know better.

They ALL know better.

There's no excuse for this.

And that takes us to the third and most important point:

Pictures of Air Force and Army officers decked out in MAGA hats and waving Trump flags.

This is a violation of military regulation, specifically DoD Directive 1344.10 "Political Activities by Members of the Armed Forces."

Military personnel are allowed to participate in political activities OUTSIDE OF THEIR OFFICIAL CAPACITIES. That is, as a member of the uniformed service, you can participate in lawful political activity as a private citizen. You may NOT do so in uniform, or in any official capacity.

And as an officer, what you are expressly prohibited from doing is attempting to influence your subordinates' political views in any fashion whatsoever. That is abuse of power and prohibited by a variety of regulations and laws.

It's not just that Air Force captain waving the Trump flag, it's the full bird colonel not ten feet away -- along with a dozen other senior officers -- who are not correcting her. The officers photographed wearing or waving Trump paraphernalia have compromised their ability to command. Any subordinate who happens to hold differing political views would have to suspect prejudicial treatment in such a command environment -- which is specifically why this type of partisan behavior in uniform is strictly prohibited."

The portion in quotes came from another source, but I don't have his name right now. As soon as I get it, the quoted piece will be credited to the source.

Your response is a rational and quite probable answer,unlike other Trump or death types. Thank you for an answer worth reading. Signed, the poster and vet, who honestly didn't think of blaming anyone else other than the minister

Oh, the dilemma; whether to share a link to this story with my two former Navy (one a S.E.A.L), Trump voting brothers. But that's another issue.

The issue here is the safety and security of our Special Forces personnel and their families. 45's actions make two things very clear;

a) tRump is ignorant...willfully so...of security procedures in place for our soldiers and their support personnel,

b) possibly worse than his ignorance is his utter indifference to their safety and security.

Many of these soldiers probably have families back home. Families that are left completely in the dark as to the whereabouts of their loved ones when they are deployed. That is until now.

I feel badly for those soldiers who trusted their Commander in Chief not to turn a once-in-a-lifetime event (getting a selfie with the POTUS) into a publicity opportunity that also places them, their mission, and potentially their families, at risk.

He is playing th part of Nero.... We need the Pretorian Guard to step up their game!

6

You have just got to face facts ....you have a complete asshole as a “Commander in Chief”! With friends like him we need no enemies!

3

He only does things to benefit himself ONLY could care less he exposed them to harm. Why in the HELL is that grifter traitor con man STILL in the WH?

40% of the country loves him no matter what. Modernity, education, and facts frighten most of those people. He's promised that he will drag the country back from modernity, that facts are fake news, and that education doesn't matter--it's all just something those liberal elites use to oppress everyone else with a Chinese hoax and their "science" of evolution that makes baby Jesus cry. (My dad all through Christmas said the Fed is trying to destroy the economy to make Trump look bad. All through yesterday he said the DOW went up 1000 because Trump said to buy on the dip. Today it's down again and I'm sure it's the FED's fault again. It doesn't matter WHAT happens, Trump is great and everyone else is trying to destroy him. Either Trump has magical powers to save us all...or if he doesn't, it's because everyone else is persecuting him so the magic stops working.)

@greyeyed123 You've got him to a tee.

I haven't spoken to any active duty military, but I would be amazed if many of them had any respect for him as CiC. Luckily, at least the service personnel in the military ARE professionals. Semper Fi!

2

At first I thought the trip would prevent him from creating bad policy at home and lessen the damage of his presidency. Never mind.

5

He went to Iraq just after the story of his Dr. never even examined him for Bone Spurs for his Deferments from Vietnam War! Distract and do Bad, its whole life is Distract and do Bad!

[cnn.com]

@SageDave Thank you!

Fox News says it's an unfair hit piece because the doctor is dead and it was his children who claimed their father had told that story throughout his life--that he got Trump out of Vietnam as a favor to Trump's father. Not that it matters now. We know Trump voters don't really care for morality, honesty, or law. It was just something they faked to pretend to be superior to everyone else. I never thought my own father would be defending the dismemberment of a journalist, or advocating shooting pregnant women at the border. But after Trump said we shouldn't care much about the dismemberment because of Saudi money, and then sent the US military to the border and said to consider rocks to be rifles, all he could talk about was how noisy journalists deserve what they get and pregnant women trying to break our border laws should be shot. (This is NOT how he used to be. His paranoia and racism are off the scale now. He watches Fox News 24/7.) (Edit: and just as I type this, Fox reports the controversy about the "massive inflow of illegal immigrants" where "one child has died." So he starts yelling at the tv that it doesn't matter that the child died because lots of people die. Good grief. We need an army of mental health professionals to get the country back from insanity.)

@greyeyed123 Wow I don't know what to say, I think I have become Numb. I care still but there is nothing that that Moron can do that will surprise me. I often look over the Laramie Mountain range toward the Cheyenne missile base expecting to see them launch. Two years now an I just cannot get angry about any of it, all I can do is talk to people and work on changing public opinion to enlighten and inform. And never forget this MEME!

@joe1334us Both of my parents are 70, both watch Fox News all the time (dad more than mom), and both think Trump is great. I have no idea what to say. Both of them were Democrats their entire lives. Dad hated Hillary because she was a woman and wanted authority (he has a weird complex about this since his mother refused him a penny when he was 5, and later took his Vietnam money and spent it on his brother's wedding while telling him she gave it to his struggling grandparents). Ten years ago he would go on and on about how terrible mom's brothers were for being Republicans (which was untrue--the "terrible" part, not the Republican part). Now he goes on and on about how evil Democrats and liberals are (he got the "liberal" epithet from Fox News--he never used it once before in his life so far as I am aware). He rails against the evils of socialism while he has been on 100% VA disability for 22 years, and now has social security. He rails against any Democrat he thinks was a draft dodger (occasionally he gets this wrong as some he accuses were children or not born yet), but says nothing about Trump dodging the draft. When the Dow crashed on Christmas Eve, he said it was the Fed's fault because Trump and Fox News said so. When it spiked 1000 yesterday, it was because Trump said to buy the dip. He's literally mimicking the irrationality of Trump himself. It doesn't have to be consistent, logical, honest, or legal, but if it supports Trump, he's for it 100%.

@greyeyed123 Have you had them checked for Ticks? Is there something in the water or has Faux figured out how to Hypnotize them through the Tube? Please find the Root Cause of their issues and remove that stimulus, save the ones you Love from themselves because when all this shit hits the fan they will have no where else to turn and you do not want parents with shit stains all over them screaming "Her E-mails" as they are carried away to the Asylum.

4

The bastard will be giving out social security numbers next. He could use this as a threat to get what he wants.

8

The real problem is that Trump does not give a damn about anyone other than himself.

Can't argue with that. Saw some commentary this morning that tRump treated this visit not as a morale booster, but a campaign rally.

@Beowulfsfriend You are totally right to be concerned. Trump's behavior was totally inappropriate.
