I wanted to share with you all the poem I wrote the day papa died. It's cheesy and parts don't work with the stanzas, but I hadn't slept in 2 days. Anyway they read it at his funeral and it just means a lot to me so I want to share it.

Under Papa's Hat

Under Papa's hat I always saw
A great big old sturdy jaw
And little me with great big eyes
Always clung straight to his sides
Because under Papa's hat I always knew
I was loved, and wanted, too

Under Papa's hat I always loved
That dorky man's great big hugs
And little me was taller now
Soon I met with his gray brow
But under Papa's hat was fine
Cause papa loved me more through time

Under Papa's hat the hair got less
He still smiled for he was blessed
And grown up me could hardly see
How anyone could be as lucky as me
For under Papa's hat there I found
The best Papa all around

And now under Papa's hat is me
Papa's gone now, you can see
I will cry as we lay him to rest
But deep inside of my aching chest
I still feel his love through all of that
All from under Papa's hat

What you think others may think of your poetry should have no bearing on your feeling about producing it. What you have written is from the heart and for you, you decided to share it so I thank you for doing so.
