Following on from my first muse burst, came this obsessive thought. Has anyone else found themselves obsessed by someone's name?

Tiffany Two

I have ne'er in my life met Tiffany Paine
Yet already I'd like to meet her again.
Believe me, these words are truly insane:
But think not for one moment that I do complain!
This madness of thought I cannot explain,
And in cold light of logic is truly inane.
But there's something about her, this Tiffany Paine,
Which causes my mind to obsess the refrain.
So for e'er shall I utter, repeated, her name.
Forget Hare Krishna, chant Tiffany Paine.

When I was a young girl crushing on a boy, I would incessantly write my first name with his last, because, of course. at that age you're obviously going to marry each one that makes your heart pitter-patter. These days, though, I find I prefer the sound of my own last name. ?

But, memsahib, your maiden or married last name? ?
I'm puzzled as to why in some societies the woman loses her name, becoming a man's possession. In Spain, each partner retains their name. Their children acquire the man's name followed by the woman's name. With each generation, the second name drops off, but all Spanish surnanes are double names.

@Petter My maiden name. I think it's the same reason many cultural traditions are followed blindly: people don't critically think about the reasoning behind them or that there may be a better/ different way.

@Amzungu2 Yeah. But changing it can be bit of a pain! ?
