I am (or was) a crazy woman, a hoarder of specific items. I opened a box that has been packed up for 10 years. Projects. Counted Cross Stitch kits and Needlepoint kits. Some started, some new in package. Some I don't remember buying. Some were projects when my children we small. My "baby" is 27. OMG. Some I want to finish, some I'm going to attempt to sell on eBay. Some may well be trashed or go to a thrift store. There are over 60 kits, and I don't even want to think about the money sunk in there. I have two kits that I know I had when I met my ex, one is started but not completed. We were married in 1982. Over the years I did complete many kits and projects, just not these. I'd have to live for another hundred years to finish all these. Wow. Thanks for playing along with me!

I did all the knitting, & most of the sewing for the family, but I always finished what I started. We couldn't afford to just collect things to do ''later.''

I've never done anything like that...?

Paula I am a hoarder too. I have to pack up my house after January 22nd and I dread it. My friend DazeyPanda here is going to help me. I have to fit everything in a storage unit. Going to be a shitload of work.

I feel your pain. I did that when I split with my ex. I've only had all my stuff in one place since I moved here 6 years ago.

@HippieChick58 I used to do beading and jewelry before cancer. With scleraderma I can't do it anymore -

@sassygirl3869 Scleraderma is a tough disorder, in more ways than one. I am so sorry you have to deal with that. I used to do beading, in fact will be trying to sell my beading supplies on eBay soon. The holes got too small, and I pretty much stopped wearing jewelry.

I have way strong hoarder genetics. My mother, one of my aunts, my sister, both of my grandfathers and one of my grandmothers were or are hoarders of one type or another.

I have to make a conscious effort to resist at times. I tell myself "they'll make more and I can buy it."

The empty shoe boxes still get out of hand at times.

Oh, and just so you don't feel too bad, I have a box that's been packed since 1992.

I was recently blowing out my craft closet and found embroidery I'd never do. However the floss was reused in dreamcatchers. Not a bad recycle at all. Even the hoops got used that way. 😉

I need to add - I found (AGAIN) my Mom's wedding gown from 1950. It is now in my SILs hands for my nephew's future wife who is a size 0.
Yup that was a moment. Two ladies standing there with the smallest waisted gown imaginable in satin. Serious size envy.
(I take after my Dad.).
We kept hoping for a genetic throwback btw.

I did not know there was such a thing as size 0...interesting.

@MST3K My Mum was about 90 lbs when zhe was married at age 25 - 5ft 1 in. Very small boned.
My Dad was 6 ft and about 180 lbs.

Guess which one I favor at 5 ft 8 in? ?

I used to be a compulsive book-buyer. I've bought scores of books I never read over the years. I even bought the same 9-volume history of philosophy about four or five times (and read only a few chapters of the first volume)!

I also bought lots of music CDs in the 90's and 2000's. At least I listened to most of those though.

Well, I feel somewhat better. I used to have a huge library. When I realized I had to move all those books by myself, plus needing the space for that many books, I quickly resold them. I still buy books, just not as many, and I visit my library much more frequently. And occasionally, or more than occasionally have overdue fines. Or take the books back without finishing them. Books, projects, who has time to work!

@HippieChick58 lol, I remember selling about 40 chess books to a friend just prior to moving to Cleveland. I figured he would buy many, so I priced them very low. My ploy worked 🙂

I am purging my stuff and have found a local creative re-use place...I have given them all of my old and even unfinished projects that I will never do or have lost interest...recently gave them five bags of fabric as well...I am much more creative now that I don't have those looming in the box projects cluttering my mind...it will be wonderful to get rid of more...

I still have enough fabric to cloth a small country or make quilts for a generation of babies...ha ha

One step at a time...you go!

(I will admit that I was looking hard to see if there was something I NEEDED....ha ha ha ha NO!)

I have organized my quilting stash. I've made 4 quilts since I have been off work (since Sept 7.) I was thinking I'm done with quilts for a while, and now I have the next two planned... But no hurry on them. So, I think I can never die, just too much stuff to get done 🙂
