Good man: ... Swedish Professor Rebels Against University’s ‘Critical Whiteness Studies’

"""
One of Sweden’s most merited and acclaimed political scientists and long-time critics of identity politics, Bo Rothstein, has argued that identity-based disciplines like grievance studies, which deal with the concept of collective guilt, have no place in academia.

Bo Rothstein, a professor of political science at the University of Gothenburg (GU), has written an opinion piece in Göteborgs-Posten slamming “critical whiteness studies,” a new discipline that has emerged at his university.

Well it's a bit misleading. I looked up what "VitKrit" is about and it's not "a new discipline that has emerged at his university". It is a series of seminars where different faculties contribute. Also the article claiming that "the discipline seeks to “problematize whiteness” in human science" is very deceptive. The goal is not to show how problematic white people are but to discuss in various ways how "whitness" is perceived and what it's effects are. One of the seminars for instance discusses certain books about colonialism.
I think the reaction is a bit overblown. Though I can see why some snowflakes might take offense I don't think it's helpful to write deceptive articles about the whole thing.

I once heard it said that some mathematician remarked, 'tis amazing how many things that there are that are not so.' If you want to promote some product or concept then seek scientific endorsement. The creation of a pseudo-scientific vocabulary may lend weight to promotion of your product or concept.

And because he/she is a mathematician matters because?

@itsmedammit Whether or not those words were uttered by a mathematician or John or Jane Doe the point is, I think, interesting in and of itself. 🙂

@ASTRALMAX Certainly is true, people find whatever it is they are looking for. Thanks for not reacting to my mild bitchiness. 🙂
