Hi, I'm back. I've been in hospitals. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and had the Whipple surgery a few weeks ago. My cat, Dazzle stayed alone at home with lots of food and water and someone to check on him and clean his potty box. I see that there are 100 posts by cat people, so I'm about to dig in.

Sorry to hear of your hospitalization! Last year I spent all November in hospital and rehabilitation facilities. I had a heart problem and pancreatitis. I feel stronger now than I felt before retiring! Whoopie!

I'm told that I was at one of the best hospitals: USC Keck cancer hospital.

What you are going through is noot easy. I hope you have people who support and help you. Kate has a condition almost nothing is known about, denial is easy when nothing is known, but everything is a new problem. May you have great doctors and friends to care for and give you love.

thank you

Sorry to hear your news, hope all goes well for you and the cat 🙂

I'm considering suicide

@Plant1010J ,
Unlike most people I think it takes courage to kill oneself.
I hope it does not come to that but if so you have my respect.

@Plant1010J Kate was diagnosed with Erdheim-Chester disorder four years ago. At that time the Affordable Care Act had just come into being and thank what ever for that. At first it was 5200.00 a week, every 28 days. We had just got insurance and so it has worked for us. When we first heard of this condition we found the life expectancy was 1 1/2 years, a lesson learned to not look things up in Google without some previous input. Kate is now a little over four years into this an she is doing alright. Yes there are bad days but mostly good. Insurance is expensive but a lot less expensive than the now $172,000 a week, every 28 days. We are on Medicare and so far all is good. She has considered suicide twice but is glad she is still here and thriving. Life can be hard but there are days that make one feel glad to be here. Do not let the depression take hold, you will be missed by many you do not know.

Best of luck to you!

How are you feeling now? And is Dazzle happy you are home?

my body is not my own anymore. All's been eliminated and reassigned inside me. Dazzle is so happy to have me home

@Plant1010J It's weird enough getting diagnosed with Cancer - than it's "Wham Bam - we're gonna do testing and surgery - in such a blur it's going to make your head spin.".

I bet Dazzle is happy. I bet you are RELIEVED.

My cats really helped me - post breast cancer surgery - with my range of motion and with a reason to get out of bed and survive day by day. I bet Dazzle helps you with that too.

Let me know if you'd ever like to talk? I never had your cancer - but I've had cancer. So I do know that sensation of "Wow shit - this is happening.".

Hope your health gets better. I’ll send you a cat post.

very nice of you, thank you

Never believe the cat entirely.

My cat wanted his favorite perch today. He tried to convince the other boy kitty that there was a large UFO in the yard. It didn't work though... He did make me look however.
