I get a bit tired of listening to stories about the holocaust, after all they are not the only victims around the world.

@ToolGuy In the holocaust not only Jews perished but a lot of ordinary Germans, Poles, French and other nationalities. If we have a remembrance day for one group we should have it for others too.

@ToolGuy You were fine. Sometimes we just write things so fast and don't always pay attention. I know I do it. Take care.

@SaucyCheryl Not quite the same though. Memorial Day or Decoration Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in the country's armed forces. This has to do with as you see serving in the country's armed forces. Nothing to do with atrocities around the world that a lot of time soldiers have done.

its crazy not to believe it but a lot of History that shows us in a bad light has a habit of being tucked away like native Americans, Australians, Africams etc and much more and a lot in the name of religion too.

Those who do not believe it are bigots who do not want to believe the truth.

Fools Can not accept proof. Thanks for reminder.

I'm not a holocaust denier but there are 31,536,000 seconds in a year. It's estimated 20 million people died in WWII?

And yet it got little air time on the media

@Beowulfsfriend surprised Trump didn't tweet about all the good people lost on both sides.

Over 60 million people were killed during World War II, which was over 3% of the world's population at the time. 22 to 25 million of those people were soldiers, including 5 million who died in captivity as prisoners of war.
en.wikipedia.org/...com/World_War_II_casualties
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II_casualties

@Beowulfsfriend my bad on the total was relying on memory. Still the numbers don't work. That would equate to approx 2 years of silence?

@JazznBlues Starvation and bombs. Russia lost over 20 million alone. Russia dropped a fifth of their population.

@Beowulfsfriend 362,664,000 is 11.5 years of silence. Guessing that many people didn't die in the 1940's. That would be 1/7th of the world population in 1944.

@Beowulfsfriend sorry but I'm anal about accuracy. Don't like false claims, even for a good cause. Watering the truth down hurts causes always.

And 17 million were killed in WWI
50 million by the damn flu in 1917.

50 million.

Just realized this is exactly why I'm atheist. I question things that don't add up.

Meme didnt say how many seconds a "moment " was..

I have come to learn that human depravity has no limits. We have a talent for self deception. The smugness & arrogance of a particular demographic emboldened by a national figure I will name; and calls for a modern civil war to enact the National figure’s rantings is proof of the following: 1. A certain demographic loathes diversity & craves homogeny. 2. The extreme of this demographic views violence as a justifiable means. You connect the dots... could such demographic seek to eradicate anyone different from them in the past? Could such a demographic seek to eradicate anyone different from them in the present? The Holocaust of the past then is not only probable, but inevitable. Might the same thinking be brooding in the present?

Anyone who still denies the Holocaust should have to sit through footage shot by US soldiers, who liberated the concentration camps.
They should have to sit through the surviving footage shot by German soldiers during the war, while the camps were active.
They should have to meet those who still survive, and listen to them speak of what
their lives were like in the camps.
They shouldn't be allowed to speak, they should only listen.

Sitting in front of sobbing old men remembering freeing people from camps when they were boys.

They knew why they were sent to war.

There are also people who believe Prince Philip is a shape changing Lizard, that the Earth is flat, that the moon is made of cheese, that there is a big hole at the north pole wherein live a race of Vril and run away Nazis liv at the south pole in a similar but different hole, those that did not escape to the moon that is, or that Trump is a competent president...of anything.
Holocaust deniers are rank amatuers compared to these nut jobs.

Of course..and we should Never forget..

It is a shame on the species of homo sapiens ☹

@LenHazell53 yes it is..as is the genocide we committed against Native Americans.

@Charlene as were The extirpation of the Cathars, the anabaptist, the Albigensian Crusade the pan European slaughter of the "witches", the heretic burning of the Gnostics, Rawanda, Cambodia, Bosnia

Human beings have an endless appetite for extermination of their own based on tiny but to them unacceptable differences, birth place, political and religious ideology, skin colour and being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

This species stinks.

@LenHazell53 indeed..

This was a horrible stain on humanity. Unfortunately, many of us are wondering when Israel will show it has learned something from this besides how not to treat other tribes.

@K9Kohle789 Tell that to the Palestinian people who have been kicked of their farms to make way for European Jewish settlers.

@K9Kohle789 pack your bags, you are moving. The Seminole Indians are getting their land back.

@K9Kohle789 "but it's not as cruel as what happened to me" is a child's argument.

@K9Kohle789 I may not be an expert on this area but I do know some things. According to some history "In 1947, the United Nations (UN) adopted a Partition Plan for Palestine recommending the creation of independent Arab and Jewish states and an internationalized Jerusalem." As far as I remember the Jewish community had no real homeland and, because of the holocaust Palestine was to be shared with the Jews. Wars ensued over the division of the land and because of the power of Israel they won. However, this still does not give them the right to bully and push the indigenous people off their land and out of their homes. We talk about this country being a land of immigrants when in reality there was already a aboriginal group here already and the immigrants practiced genocide to steal it away from the natives. Likewise with the SW which once belonged to Spain (who also took the land away from natives). The Mexicans allowed US settlers in in order to develop the land and, we in turn, took it away from Mexico. Davy Crockett, Daniel Boone and the Alamo were not the heroes but the villains. It seems this is the normal way we acquire land but it still doesn't make it right. Right now Israel is the bad guy and many Jews (a few friends of mine included) are deeply ashamed of what is happening there.

@K9Kohle789 Unfortunately, to me this sounds like the NRA saying they will never make the mistakes the tobacco industry did. Take the high road and don't let anything as truth or human rights get in the way. If some actions are wrong they are wrong. This reminds me of the adage, my tribe, right or wrong.
