I agree! What is wrong with us? Why do we put so much value in the wealthy and not in helping those who need us the most?

We're waiting for the benefits to trickle down. Have faith.

Ireland too?

Yes indeed.

The rich and powerful have always been in and have had the power. I think currently, we ( the non rich and powerful) probably have more power available to us to change that, than at any other time in history. I wonder if we will realize that and act on it?

Develop the method, do the research, publish your data...
Or finance someone that want to do it.

We can see What is Wrong with You... Youngins!!!!!!

@GipsyOfNewSpain Nothing wrong, its just reality. Develop an indicator like you are proposing costs money, and no one wants to do it or pay for that.
Asking for others to do the job is easy.
Some governments tried to create this kind of indicator, and we have IDH for that. But it is so complex and still not easy and clear to take any action using it.

@Pedrohbds You are giving me a Headache... go serve on the Military or Something. I heard they are Hiring.

@GipsyOfNewSpain It is not that I am against social indicators, it is just that most of the proposed ones don't work, or are very difficult to implement.
It is not my opinion, it is a fact.
And I am not making judgement or saying it shouldn't be done, I am saying that people try and don't work, so if you have a better idea on how to do it step up.

This is a very valid point and I would like to see something developed to measure how well we are addressing poverty at the same time. It seems only fair to examine both ends of the spectrum.

Cartoon done to tug at our heart. But, The economy is doing great! Stock portfolios increasing at strong rates. 100 months in a row of decreasing unemployment. I think the real problem is where we, as a society, are spending our treasure. "Rich" people will always do well.

Most ameriKKKans Do Not Have A Portfolio!!!!!! I understand... NEVER OCCURRED TO YOU!!!!

I didn't express myself well here. My intent was to say that our society has more than enough wealth to take care of everyone. The wealth of our society is based on economic growth, and, with the current economic growth, there is no excuse for anyone being homeless & hungry.
