Many of Shakespeare's quotes and even, due to the language interpretation today, his words are misconstrued. Here is one of my favorite ones and Shakespeare's actual intent.

"O Romeo, Romeo,wherefore art thou Romeo?" always amuses me when people think Juliet is just wondering "where he at".

Whyfore , might be clearer. or " for why ".

As a retired lawyer, I thank you for the clarification! 🙂

?? Having taught Shakespeare at an independent school, I had a tee shirt with the quote and wore it sometimes to sporting events to watch my kids, knowing the lawyer parents would misconstrue it. I never told them any different, til now.
