A very dangerous opinion by a Supreme Court Justice. One which, on its face, could allow massive ”legal” discrimination by and/or in individual states if it’s allowed to stand as a majority opinion of the Supreme Court.

Essentially, Justice Thomas is saying that individual states could establish a legal state religion.

What about division of church and state? WRONG!!!!

His position is that the First Amendment only prohibits the federal government, leaving to the states, the right to establish an official state religion. There are a lot of people that will accept that interpretation.

They were actually kicking this around here in North Kackalacky, with the state gerrymandered to give the wingnuts a (formerly) super-majority while receiving less than 50 percent of the votes cast. I'm not sure why they backed off, but it's not a new idea. The 2018 midterms removed the veto-proof majorities (though they still hold simple majorities), so if the democratic governor vetoes something, they have to get democrats to go along with an override. Oh, and Clarence Thomas can blow me.

Clarence Thomas should be buried underneath about 2 tons of bibles.
He never should have been confirmed to the SCOTUS.
He's always been a disgrace.

I agree -
