Interesting fact: 3 years ago I didn't give a crap about politics. What a difference the candidate can make.

It's easy to understand why so many people are turned off by politics, especially now that we are having to deal with the most corrupted and dangerous administration in US history. However, feminist Carol Hanisch, who coined the phrase 'the personal is political' was right on target. There is little happening in our lives that isn't affected by the decisions that our legislators make. They have ultimate power over us. I try to point this out to people who want to turn a blind eye to things of a political nature, hoping to nudge them in a more open, progressive direction.

Ironically I experienced the opposite effect. Three years ago I cared about politics, now I don't give a fuck! I still vote, but I don't hold any illusions of my efficacy in doing so.

Trump is the result of about about 45% of eligible voters NOT giving a crap...so much so that they didn't even vote in the last election. Let's hope these people actually care when the next election comes.

[pewresearch.org]

"The 55.7% VAP turnout in 2016 puts the U.S. behind most of its peers in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), most of whose members are highly developed, democratic states. Looking at the most recent nationwide election in each OECD nation, the U.S. placed 26th out of 32 (current VAP estimates weren’t available for three countries)."

People can say all that they want about trump and HRC but combined they forced people to wake up and realize that they had been asleep at the wheel.

And even though we pretty much had a head a head on crash with trump we will survive and eventually walk again.
But nonetheless it has woken us up to EVERYTHING that is wrong with our country, society and political system.

So now we have to fix it and that is going to be the real struggle because of the ignorant and lazy sheeple that just want things to go back to the way they were.
Which would eventually land us in the same scenario that we’ve found ourselves in now.

Oh and before I go let me say that if HRC had won we’d still would’ve wrecked but most of the people that are freaking out now wouldn’t have cared because they made history ?. Yep a history that their same party sabotaged for Shirley Chisholm the first woman to run for President.

And if y’all aren’t familiar with her or her run for office then ya might wanna check your privilege and learn.

Just saying that there seems to a lot of y’all that are all worked up trump’s racist friends but at least they don’t hide behind a the notion that their party makes them racist unlike those who use theirs to say that they’re not. ✌?

Evidently there were a bunch of us.....they managed to install one of their own. Wonder if we will survive it.

I also got lulled into contentment...I was very happy after Obama won and was happy to see my retirement funds doing well...it wasn't until my younger brother told me he was voting for tRump that I realized I hadn't paid attention to people like him who were not doing so well...it was an eye-opening moment...I will not fall asleep at the wheel ever again...to see our country step backwards in time is just not acceptable...

That's good. Too many people just weren't paying attention and that's what gave us the Trump insanity. I hope this finally got everyone's attention and things will change in 2020.
