I am raising a glass tonight as a mark of respect for my ex-mother-in-law. She passed away the week before last and it was her funeral today. I did like her and we got on well although I have not seen her more than once in the last 20-odd years.This is little more than a ramble really, I separated from my ex in 1991. However I am having my favourite - Sauvignon Blanc, we were both fans of dry or dry-ish white wine. I think I am showing due consideration to my ex and my memories of her mother. I am not asking for comments but if you feel like telling me how you would do the same thing (and what is your favourite wine) I will read with interest.

We do seem to forget that leaving the company of one person, does not mean, that all others are left too! People do not like being in the ‘middle’ but others navigate it very well. This is to your ex-mother-in-law...and to your loss.

Thank you for your reply. It is good to realise that people you have never met can really relate to a post and show a little empathy. I will try to show others what you have shown - and no it's not 'the drink' talking.
