Just a little mildly crippling anxiety. You know, I can't do anything because it's all overwhelming. Then nothing is done. So I have to do everything at once, because it's all overwhelming. Wash, rinse, repeat.

it makes me really cranky when people type "dose" when they mean "does."

I am a British Mental Health nurse, senior clinical practitioner and university lecturer. I am sucessful, independant and have a future and I suffer from depression. At times I contemplated taking my life so much it was hard to walk past the bannister rails in my house. I had all these stupid smiley pics and I was distraught. I teach how mental illnesses affect us, I know how medications and SFTs work. I am a CBT practitioner, I can provide BFTs and px most medications but I cannot cure myself. Fluoxetine helps, but I find it blunts all my feelings. I genuinely believe that this is an epigentic maladaption and we are just scratching the surface as to understanding. By the way...and I MEAN THIS SERIOUSLY. You matter..if you are struggling PM me. I can't give online counselling but I can talk to you. I am even happy to call. Be well...it will all work out in the end.

i started drinking when i was 14. got in a lot of trouble & pretty well fucked my whole life up b/c of alcohol.
i was a diagnosed depressive with anxiety disorders by my late 20s.
alcohol causes the release of dopamine & serotonin into our brains which makes us feel good.
of course, those are important hormones that depressives don't have enough of.
some people are allergic to alcohol & in a way are lucky. some of us don't even get hangovers & build up an immunity to it.
i was a binge drinker & used to go for days totally smashed. that kind of drinking will get you in trouble & it got me in all kinds of trouble.

I have Bipolar 1 disorder and GAD, I love hypomanias and most manias when they are happy, Angry manias are a bitch though. Depression gets me real bad, I have attempted suicide twice. Mental illness runs in my mom's side of the family. She and 2 siblings had paranoid schizophenia. other members have depression, bipolar disorders and schizophenia. My dad had depression and anxiety.

Try keto diet , read grain brain

@TrudyHagedorn I am a vegan

More ways than I can mention in a comment.

1

My friends and family believe me to have a mental disorder because of my continual (in my opinion realistic) despair regarding the future of humanity.

Well...... I think people are watching me from my t.v, set and reporting to my dead enemies. When I'm stressed the walls start closeing in on me and things crawl out of the boards of my floor. The voices from my right shoulder keep telling me not to look to see if I'm left handed when looking in the mirror.....and I think the president is trying to ruin America......other than that, I hardly ever feel any effects.

You're fine. Except the mirror part.

Why do you ask? That's a personal question.

Chronic anxiety and depression run in my family.

I'm asking for myself and my family.

My family as well.

It does seem that some mental health disorders seem so prevalent. Due to family members mental health problems , watching friends suffer and my own struggles i ended up working in social services. I have seen both sides and i now try to advocate for individuals rights and vote for referedums and legislature, politicians that will hopefully help the mental / health care system.

aIt has not affected me, but in the early 70s,l i once hitchhiked with a Dutch boy who suffered from schizophrenia. He was very open about his affliction but had it under control while he was taking his pills. When he ran out, things became interesting. After a few days of constant conversations with the many voices in his head, I dropped him off at a hospital in Seville, Spain and continued on without him.

It caused my fiance to commit suicide a year and a half ago, so I guess you'd say it had a really bad affect on me.

I'm so sorry.

@PatrickKerr , thank you. Was a rough time for he and I . He's at peace now. And I'm doing okay.
