I recall the breakup of Southern Bell here. Someone made a video about it using that song “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do”?

Monopolies once were considered to affect one product line like oil, phones etc. Today they are conglomerates that have their hands in multiple things but just as damaging and need to be brought down. The merger s started during Reagan years had since the Fed Trade Commission stopped collecting data on consolidation in 1981 the collective damage to small businesses has been lost and the damage to consumers has not been addressed. Competition has been wiped out in some industries and peoples choices have been locked up by crony oligarchs.

And they will scream: free market! Capitalism, sis-boom-bah!
?? Ayn Rand-ian fuckers drive me a bit nuts.
