I'm sitting by my daughter's bedside as she awaits abdominal surgery and we stroll through her childhood together, recounting her favorite childhood memories. She had a voracious appetite for storytelling and creativity, even at two, and she spent two hours a day reading books and creating stories with me.
She told me I was the mother she deserved. I earned those words by nurturing her mind. And that's the best gift I gave to both of us.
Update: Surgery wasn't needed after all! She's being released today. Thank you to all those who sent love our way!
