Seven Types of Atheism
A review of the book by John Gray.
I am not familiar with his work and thought. Food for discussion perhaps?

I am not familiar with this author but I did read this review and one other book review to get the essential points of his book...like the 7 types of atheism, for instance. I had never heard that atheism could be distilled even further down. So this approach was very interesting to read about and digest. I would like to discuss this idea of a utopian vision of the future of humanity. Do secular humanists consider the future in a positive or negative light? Is the 'human race' getting better or are we failing? I think the quote from this article that really got me thinking/pondering was the following: "The truth is that everyone believes in progress but only a dwindling band of Victorian relics such as Dawkins believe in Progress." Why is it so wrong or fruitless to consider a better future from today? Gray considers this approach to be religion by proxy.
